Oscar is like a spoiled child sometimes. When the grass is damp outside, he ends up with ear issues because as he’s snooping around outside with his nose to the ground, his ears are like little scoops getting all that dampness inside. As you’ve probably figured out by now, it doesn’t matter what I’m doing – brushing his teeth, trimming his nails, putting drops in his ears . . I have a good chance of getting the worst end of the deal. I’ve been asking Vince to help hold him while I put drops in his ears but we just haven’t done it so today, I picked him up, held him down . . somehow, and got drops in his ears. I think I got more all over my hands than I did in his ears but I feel like I got enough in there to do the trick. I’ll do it again Saturday and that will be harder because he’ll be expecting it.
Anyway, he’s been aggravated with me all afternoon. He doesn’t want to sit with me. He doesn’t even want to look at me. I was calling him and he finally looked over at me.
This is about as close as he’ll get to me . . unless I have a treat in my hand. That look! It reminds me of this look from Addie six years ago when we were shopping and I wouldn’t get something she wanted!
It’s so difficult to keep those around me happy! 🙂

Those pictures of Oscar and Addie are cute comparisons. I have a miniature schnauzer named Tammie and she pouts too. She will get in her bed and turn away from me. It’s even funnier if she’s sitting and facing away from me. It doesn’t usually last long because she’s my Velcro dog.

That’s funny. I don’t think Oscar (and probably not Tammie) realize how obvious it is that they’re pouting. Usually when I acknowledge that I know Oscar is aggravated with me and I go out of my way to comfort him, he’s over it but a morsel of dog food will also make him forget that he’s mad at me.

Oh the attitude from both of them! I miss your Addie stories, I hope she’s doing well!

She’s outgrown Granny! I don’t see her much.

Now if Vince gives you that look….RUN!!!

Oh, I get that look often but, like with Oscar, a little snuggling and some food and he gets over it. 🙂

I used to have a cat that I would swaddle in a towel (or small blanket) like a baby when I had to give her medicine. Pretty much kept me from getting all scratched up. Works in my dog now, too.

Poor Oscar. He’s so paranoid. He did get up on the sofa and sleep next to me but when I wanted to take him out, he thought it was a trick and wouldn’t even come to me for a treat. That poor dog!
Since I’ve mastered cutting his nails (even though it’s just one nail per day), I know I can work through anything with him but I don’t need to put drops in his ears EVERY day but I am going to work with getting him to be calm while I put the bottle by his ears and maybe that will make it easier when I do have to put drops in his ears. It’s one of those things where I’m glad we got him. Someone who works and has small children and doesn’t have time to deal with all his craziness . . that would have been terrible for him (and for them). He’s really such a sweet, loving boy but just so paranoid about everything.

Love those expressions by the way!

Addie’s expression is much funnier now that it was that day in Walmart when she folded those arms and refused to take another step unless I got what she wanted. I told her . . fine, you stay here. I’m leaving and I’ll tell you mom that you’re on Row 5 and she can come get you when she gets off work. She very quickly decided she would come with me. (Of course, I would never have left her. I would not have even walked off that aisle and left her there alone but she thought I was crazy enough to do it!)
