In the past year or so I’ve heard a lot about Ginnie Thompson Flower Floss but I haven’t tried it. The main draw for me is that it’s thicker than DMC and one strand gives good coverage on 32 count and maybe even on 28 count. Sheri from Colorado Cross Stitcher recently stitched a piece on 36 count and the coverage is dense . . not so dense that it looks crowded but it’s great coverage. I prefer not so dense coverage and it probably depends on the fabric.
I do have a couple of kits from The Wishing Thorn that include Ginnie Thompson Flower Floss but I haven’t started them yet.
When Sheri from Colorado Cross Stitcher announced a while back that she was going to start stocking the Ginnie Thompson Flower Floss, I started thinking that it would be nice to have a couple of smaller projects kitted and ready to go that I could work on without needing a magnifier light. I think there are 105 colors of the Flower Floss, where there are over 500 DMC colors. Obviously, when converting a chart from DMC, that’s a consideration. Where DMC may have 20 or more shades of yellow, there may be 6 to 8 shades in the Flower Floss. I wanted to do a conversion but, to make it not so difficult, I wanted to choose a design that didn’t have a lot of colors.
I chose Dancer by Barbara Anna Designs as my project since it’s one I have been wanting to stitch. I think the yellow I chose is too bright. It’s only used in the lantern so I may sub out a lighter yellow, but in real life, it doesn’t look nearly as bright. I just looked at a couple of other yellows and I think I like the one I chose best but I can leave the yellow til last and then decide.
The two I’ve seen stitched, as well as the magazine photo, are all stitched on gray so I wanted to go with something different but looking at my pictures, I may like the gray best. I didn’t pull any other grays so I will do that and make a decision before starting. All the linen show in 32 count.
This is probably the one of the four that I like best.
This is probably the color I like least but I have other greens so I will try those too.
I think this fabric is too light but I love the mottling. It will probably be better for another project.
I’m surprised that I like this one but I do.
Something to think about . . anyone have any thoughts . . linen color? Floss color?

I have some flower floss too and want to try it on lower count aida but haven’t chosen a project yet. Was that deer design in the Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine? I need to go thru my digital downloads – I always forget about the charts in there.

The stitching I did (long ago) with Danish flower thread used patterns by Gerda Bengtsson, Ida Winckler, and others. The patterns were published by the Danish Handcraft Guild. They may not be your style, but they are prettly little things.

I like both the gray linens and I love the flower threads. Didn’t know Sheri was going to carry those, that’s great. Love to order from her

Do you remember which Flosstube you saw the Dancer pattern on? I bought the pattern and would like to see it stitched before I decide what fabric to use. I seem to remember someone saying that they used a light color and thought I might try that. Thank you in advance.

Here’s one – look at about 15:45. I’ll keep looking for the other two.

I quite like the first and the last. I think the first is my favourite, but the last would look great too, I think.
I haven’t heard of this floss. But then, I have been away from the online stitching/quilting community for over a decade.

I like your first choice. I would like to try the flower threads also.
