I told you I would share everything I buy as far as cross stitching goes . . because I don’t think I’m going to buy much this year. Yesterday I had a small victory so I thought I should share that too. Sometimes when flosstubers make good/mature decisions, they will say “hashtag mature” and that’s what I was thinking yesterday.
Even though I will, for the most part, work on a project for five days, sometimes (now), I’m working on two projects per day. My favorite stand is the K’s Creations stands on Etsy. I’ve ordered several from this Etsy seller and have always been happy with them. I have a large and a medium, and it’s the medium that I use most. It’s not a BIG deal to change the frame in the stand but it takes a few minutes and I usually drop a knob or a spool and have to retrieve that before one of the dogs runs off with it. I told Vince . . I’m going to order a second medium stand and that way I can have two active projects going without having to change out the frames. I got online and then I thought . . wait a minute. It’s January 1 and I’m supposed to not be buying stuff.
I got out my Lowery stand and while I don’t like it as much as I like the lap stand, and I have a couple of other lap stands that aren’t my favorites . . I do not need another stand so I didn’t order it. The Lowery stand will work better with the Rolaframe frames, which I’ve been avoiding using with the K’s Creations stand. It all works . . one stand better with one type frame; the other works better with another type frame. I’ll be fine without adding another stand.
Good job, Judy . . right?

Good job, now if I can stop buying fabric we both will be doing a good job.

Not everyone HAS to stop buying fabric but when it gets to the point that it’s time to stop, that makes it easier for me to make the decision to stop.

THAT’S fiscal restraint! : ) I admire your ability to not make the purchase. Now if I could just do that when I go to thrift stores or yard sales & see fabric for sale…. The quilts I make are given away 98% of the time….and I’m currently working on 3 more for family members right now. I have enough fabric already to last till I go ‘toes up’….but if I find colors or patterns I don’t have I just can’t resist. Hope 2024 is a wonderful year for you and your family (human AND fur babies)!

That’s what I always tried to explain to Vince . . if we know I’m going to need 250 yards til I go “toes up” and I have 250 yards, that’s not always sufficient because what if I need an orange-ish red and all I have are deep reds or pink reds. It takes a lot of variety. Same with knitting – what if I just don’t have the right weight and color. I can have a room full off yarn or fabric and still need more but lately, I’m learning to make what I have work. I can definitely see a difference in my attitude towards buying.
