A couple of weeks ago, Denise and I were writing back and forth and she told me about an idea she had for stitching and it sounded really good to me. I changed it up a bit but here’s how I’m planning to stitch in 2024.
This is the plan for stitching in 2024. Things may change. I won’t beat myself up if all this falls apart in February. I love making plans and, apparently I love screwing up my plans but it doesn’t bother me at all.
My daily goal is to stitch 300 stitches EVERY day. There will be days when I stitch more. There will be days when I stitch zero. It isn’t going to be something I insist on doing no matter what happens but it’s something I really want to make a priority. There are days when I sit down to check email and two hours later, I’m still on the computer just wandering around, accomplishing nothing. That’s what I’m trying to change – substitute wasted time for stitching time. Then there are days when I’m canning and working in the garden and cooking meals and never sit down for a minute. Those days happen and there may be no stitching. I’m ok with that.
As far as specific stitching plans . . here we go:
- The first of the month – I will start a new project on the first of every month. A friend and I already have a list and I’ll choose from one of those. There are enough projects on the list that I could start a second one on the 15th of each month but I feel like WIPS are needing to be finished.
- I will work on the first of the month start for five days, then go into the five day rotation. I can pick up a different WIP on the 6th, the 11th and the 16th or I can work on one WIP the whole time, or two WIPS – the only rule is that I have to work on whatever I pick up for at least five days.
- On the 21st, I will work on a holiday project for five days. It can be Christmas, Easter, Halloween – any holiday or it could be a Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall type project.
- On the 26th, I will work on a Prairie Schooler design until the end of the month. Prairie Schooler is my “Designer of the Year” and I’ll choose another designer for 2025.
Having said all that, I’m not going to be so rigid that I get frustrated. When there’s something special happening, like the blessing sampler, or a special SAL, or the Leap Year Project, and I will adjust my schedule but for the most part, I hope to stay on the schedule.
I feel good about my plans. I hope they all work out as well as I’m hoping they will.
I’m excited to start 2024! I hope you’re all looking forward to a new year. Of course, there aren’t going to be any major changes in me, our household, most of our lives but it is a new beginning of sorts, kind of a clean slate, a good time to make any changes in our lives that we feel we need to make. Even the things we would love to change and cannot change, let’s make the best of them, find a way to be happy and enjoy 2024. One thing for sure . . time flies. It won’t be long til I’m making plans for ringing in 2025. Let’s do the things we have to do with a cheerful heart and let’s find a way to do lots of fun things in 2024.
I love you all and appreciate your friendship and comments more than you will ever know.

Judy, I thank you, Jo, and Denise for getting me back into cross stitch. I need to make a plan for stitching in the new year. I, too, get stuck on the computer instead of getting much accomplished. Love you all and hope that you have a healthy, happy New Year!

I’m so bad about wasting time. I will get online to look for a recipe and spend two hours looking at recipes! Time management isn’t my strong point. Yes, Jo and Denise are great inspirations for me too. Love those two!

Great pep talk and well said! You know I appreciate your lists, but have NONE of my own…maybe I’ll get more done in 2024 with the help of your lists! Fingers crossed!

Just like you probably can’t wrap your head around someone looking at lists all day, I know that if I didn’t have those lists, I would sit and stare at the walls all day, wondering what I should do next. I know that once something is on my list, as long as I’m a bit cooperative with myself, everything on that list will get done.
