Today has been a day of no stitching but lots of stitchy related happenings. I finished the dachshund chart yesterday (will do a blog post later) so I’m always kinda unsure what to do next after finishing a project. I was looking at WIPS and thinking about what I want to stitch for the Blessing Sampler, deciding if I wanted to do a separate New Year’s start, Denise had another idea and I’ll talk about that in a later post so mostly there were lots of thoughts running through my head but no actual stitching.
Probably a year ago, we bought light filtering blinds for the downstairs family room. We have some . . I was going to say inexpensive but I think CHEAP is a better word . . they’re probably from Walmart and were probably put up when the house was built 20 year ago. . curtains. They’re really fine but I love having blinds so we bought blinds for the downstairs family room but . . they never got hung. Then we got a new blind for a window upstairs and I wanted to get that one hung sooner rather than later. Today Vince said “If you will make sure there’s room to get a ladder in front of the windows downstairs, I’ll hang those blinds.” Oh, yes, I can do that! I have long storage ottomans in front of each window because Boots and the dogs like to get up there and look out the windows. I moved one of the ottomans but one was full of cross stitch kits and was a bit heavy so I thought . . I’ll just take everything out and make a list of what’s in this ottoman.
There were 35 kits in that ottoman! All of them had floss and linen. I made a list of what’s in the ottoman so I know where it is. There are two more of those ottomans in the sewing room that have kits in them.
There isn’t a single project in there that I’ve lost interest in and don’t want to stitch so . . another reason to stop buying and stitch what I have
The funny thing is . . I found this in the ottoman.
I didn’t buy any this year. I can’t remember if it was last year or the year before that I bought some. I didn’t care how old it was. I opened it and ate it! My aunt knew I couldn’t find them here and, for the most part, couldn’t find them in Texas, and she would send me some every year at Easter. She passed away in 2017 and every year at Easter, I smile thinking if she was still around, I’d be having Gold Brick Eggs! When I found this one today, even though I’m sure it’s newer than 2017, it made me think of her and I smiled.

Isn’t there a cajun shrimp truck that is in your area every now and then? You should suggest stocking the candies for holidays

He’s here every Saturday. Bought shrimp and scallops today. I’m trying to stay off the sugar, which obviously I’m not doing, but I don’t bring much of it into the house these days.
