Aren’t always so great.
For smaller pieces, I decided in January or February of this year that instead of cutting smaller pieces, I would load something like a fat quarter of linen into a frame and stitch as many pieces as I could to fill up that piece of linen, then take take it off the frame, cut it apart and fully finish those pieces. That would save time by not having to load six different pieces of linen.
Now that I’ve finished First Corinthians (upside down on the left) and . . why did I stitch it upside down? I’m sure I had a reason when I started it . . but I want to frame it and I can’t do anything with it til I stitch up all the space on that fat quarter, which I’m guessing will be at least six smalls.
Last night I decided to get back to working on Mini Long Dogs, which I apparently last worked on in February, 2023. I could not find the floss. That chart is on Pattern Keeper and I don’t think I printed a paper copy so maybe I never put it in a project bag. I’ve gone through all my project bags several times in the last few months and I felt sure it wasn’t in any of those bags. I have bins where I drop floss rings full of floss when I finish a project and once there’s a half dozen or so sets of floss, I put them all back with the other floss, where they’re supposed to be.
Maybe I accidentally put that floss in one of those bins so I went through those. Nope, not there. Heck . . I’ll just pull the DMC and get going with new skeins of the same floss color. I pulled the DMC I had . . only three of the five. That’s ok. I could work with those three colors and get the rest next time I’m by Hobby Lobby. Then I read the February blog post and realized I had used Victorian Motto floss . . only one skein of each color and probably cannot get more of any one color. Dang it!
I knew it would turn up some day so I decided to do some re-arranging. Vince is going to hang blinds downstairs and I need to move everything out of his way so I started moving the bin that holds the frames with projects. One frame had a floss ring hanging over it and I thought . . that’s a great idea. I wish I had done that with more projects. Wait . . that’s the floss I’m looking for. It doesn’t go with the project it’s hanging on!
I’m missing the brown for the Dachshunds’ bodies but . . all dogs are different colors so I don’t mind if I have to change their colors. Maybe I used the called for DMC. Before I make any changes to the brown floss, I’ll see if the DMC color matches and if not, I’m fine with darker brown, gray, reddish brown. I’d be surprised if I used DMC since all the other colors are Victorian Motto but . . you never know what I did or why I did it.
I’m just happy I found the border colors so I don’t have to rip any of that out!
