Cooper and Oscar are so very different. Oscar has always been so destructive and for the first year and a half of his life, he hardly ever stopped. He was ALWAYS into something. We either had to have him in the crate or have our undivided attention on him to keep him out of trouble. He chewed up computer cords, lamp cords, an electric heater cord . . and all of those things, we thought we had them where he couldn’t get to them but he managed. The breeder said he was just like his mom – an escape artist. Short of being in the crate, we could not keep him contained. We made barriers that we thought he would never get past in areas where it was hard to block him in and it never took him long to escape.
Oscar was a little shy of a year old when he chewed one of the spindles out of this little wooden fence near the bottom.
He was about a year and 4 months when he finally completely chewed through this little gate.
I don’t think Cooper has ever escaped the area we keep him confined in and he hasn’t chewed up any of the wood on the gate or the fence but . . he’s a conniving little guy. Cooper seems like he’s always happy and up for playing a practical joke. He’s so much easier to raise than Oscar was.
He sits right next to me when I’m stitching but he either has his head or his paws on the stitching frame and every move he makes wiggles the frame. Kinda hard to stitch with those holes moving.
After a while, he was snoozing next to me. Cooper is always on my left side and Oscar is on my right side. I thought . . everyone else posts pictures of their dogs all snuggled together but Oscar is not a snuggler . . not even with us. Cooper is brutal with those sharp teeth and Oscar prefers to keep his distance from Cooper. They will run and play but Oscar doesn’t want to be close to Cooper when they’re just sitting around.
Oscar was asleep, Cooper was asleep. You’d think they were both tired so I decided to put Cooper on my right side, next to Oscar so I could have a bit more space.
In the process of moving Cooper, he woke up so I gave him his bone to chew. Oscar saw that Cooper was by him so Oscar put his bone under his head and went back to sleep. I don’t know if you can see it but Oscar had gotten as far away as he could. His head is all the way against the arm rest.
Cooper has his own bone but he saw Oscar’s so he slowly scooted over by Oscar and then slowly worked to get the bone from under Oscar’s head. Oscar had to have known he was doing it but Oscar was tired.
Cooper got possession of both bones and then he was happy . . he went back to sleep.
