I am determined to finish A Changed World. I love this project and am surprised I’ve let it linger this long. I started this August 1, 2021.
I am truly my worst enemy. First, I decided to go with a grayer black than the black for the background in the text box/cartouche at the bottom. When I picked this back up in July, I started stitching with the called for black and after a bit I realized it was much darker than the rest of the stitching. I thought it might be a different dye lot but there was such a huge difference, I doubted that. Then I started remembering that Denise and I had talked about this and she was going to use a dark gray and I did that too. Then I found this little note on my working copy of the chart.
OK . . got that problem solved and did just a bit more stitching before putting it away.
Second problem – I was going to start stitching on this again the other day and couldn’t find the project bag. I had the piece I was stitching on but no chart and no floss. I looked for days! I can’t remember where I found it but I had already put another chart and all the floss in my cart at 123 Stitch and then decided to wait . . it had to be here somewhere. I mentioned on here that I keep the projects I’m halfway currently working on in one bin but while looking for something else, I saw A Changed World, knew I was going to be working on it soon and pulled it out. That’s when I stuck it somewhere and couldn’t find it. All’s well that ends well . . I found it and started stitching on it a couple of days ago.
Third problem – again, totally my fault. I put all my floss on floss tags and keep it on a ring but I don’t do that with silk. With Victoria Clayton silks, her’s are on bobbins and I keep them in little bobbin boxes. This is Au Ver a Soie silk and I didn’t want to cut it and put it on floss tags so it’s little floss away bags or small zipper bags or . . loose in the project bag.
The baskets use a brown floss . . cannot find that. OK . . move on and finish the light green. Got that done. Then it was time to finish the darker green tree on the right and stitch one on the left. Can’t find that green floss. I have searched and can’t find those two anywhere so I ordered them last night. My guess is it will be Friday at the earliest before those two skeins arrive.
My plan had been to start at the top and work down and finish everything as I was working down, then go back and do the border fill in but now, with the missing floss, I’ll just start stitching on the the next area that needs stitching and do what I can and still hope to have this finished by the end of the year.
