Chad, Nicole and Addie had Thanksgiving with Nicole’s family Thursday so they came to our house yesterday. I think it was the best Thanksgiving we’ve all had in a long time – maybe ever. I’m so thankful that my kitchen is large enough and designed for cooking. Chad made a cajun green beans, he and Addie together made mashed potatoes. He brought a buttermilk pie, cornbread dressing and a sausage dressing. I roasted a turkey, made gravy, rolls, Watergate salad, fermented cranberry relish, regular cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie.
Nicole was in the kitchen helping – trimming green beans, refreshing our lemonade, washing dishes. Chad would take breaks, run downstairs and see what was happening with the LSU game. I told Chad . . it’s so nice to be cooking with you. He said “It’s been a long time since we did this!” I think we should do it at least once a week but I know that isn’t going to happen. I’m happy any time I can see them!
Vince said it was some of the best food we’ve had at Thanksgiving. He said “there were so many different flavors!”
Chadloves animals so he and Addie spent time with Boots, Rita, Oscar and Cooper. Oscar was sitting with Chad when he was watching the game. Vince was going to take Oscar out and he wouldn’t let Vince put his harness on. Chad said “I think Oscar was going to bite Vince!” Chad ended up getting the harness on him and taking him out. Vince doesn’t stand up to Oscar so Oscar thinks he has the upper hand. If Oscar acts like he’s going to bit Vince, then Vince backs down. I leave my hand there and say . . do it once! Even when I’m cutting his nails (I should say “nail” since I do one about every third night), sometimes he will be so frustrated, I think he may bite me. He’s had my fingers in his mouth like he was telling me . . one more move and I’m biting you . . but he’s never actually bit me. Hope he doesn’t!
One thing I learned from Chad – one of his friends is one of the flag runners for the KC Chiefs. They run out on the field with the flags when the Chiefs score. Chad said he’s been to two Super Bowls and went to Germany with the team recently. That’s pretty neat, huh?
Chad has been friends with this guy since we first moved here in January, 2007.
