Yesterday I spent a good chunk of time making bread. This morning when I looked at Facebook, the first post I saw was Nicole making bread.
Look at her! She’s using Wheat Montana whole wheat flour. She’s using her scale! She’s making extra for their Thanksgiving dressing.
When I met Nicole, probably 14 years ago, the first question I asked her just trying to make conversation was “Do you sew or knit?” She looked at me like I had lost my marbles and said “Why would I?” I thought to myself . . I shouldn’t ask if she cooks and didn’t. Later I learned that she did not cook and after they were married, for years Chad did all the cooking. I think Nicole now cooks more than Chad does. She doesn’t sew much but she did ask my thoughts on a sewing machine to buy and I gave her one of my Singer 301 machines and she does knit!
Seeing her making bread and knowing Chad is working and she’s off today makes me happy. Chad is usually the bread maker. They have a wheat mill (same one I use) but they don’t keep a lot of wheat on hand so they don’t use it much. Some day I think they will but for now, without a basement, storage space for wheat just isn’t there.
Look in the back right. See that cast iron on the wall? They have an entire wall covered in cast iron and that’s about all they use to cook with. That makes me happy too!

It’s always great when the mother-in-law enjoys the daughter-in-law. When you get along well, it makes things so much easier and enjoyable for the entire family! 🙂 Continue to enjoy!!

WOW, what an awesome influence you are! So happy to read you ordered the food processer, now I want one that peels potatoes too. I watched the video you mentioned in the post and I sure would like a chicken pie for supper.

….and let’s not give Nicole a nod at her choice of mixer! I have loved my KitchenAid mixers…my first one lasted over 20 years and that’s after being used overseas on a transformer for 3 years which is hard on them. I don’t know why anyone would buy anything else unless money was the issue. I even have a spare ready to go if my current one dies (or to give as a wedding present). Nicole is lucky to have you for a MIL!
