These two dogs are so funny. Having two is definitely more fun than having one, though some days Oscar may not agree. He has fun with Cooper but he gets tired of Cooper before Cooper gets tired of him.
I have a routine in the morning. I keep a puppy pad in the bathroom downstairs. I put Cooper in there with his food first thing in the morning. Most mornings he doesn’t use the pad but sometimes he does. While Cooper is in the bathroom eating, I take Oscar out, bring him in and feed him. I take Rita out and feed her, then I let Cooper out of the bathroom. Oscar has scarfed down his food by the time Cooper gets out so they can’t get into a fight over food.
Until I let Cooper out of the bathroom, Oscar hasn’t seen him yet and Oscar is so excited to see Cooper . . for about 5 minutes. Little Cooper is one energetic pup in the morning.
I mentioned here that Cooper takes all the toys from Oscar. Apparently Oscar has figured it out and now he’s taking the toys from Cooper. Yesterday Cooper had his little pile of toys over by Vince’s chair. Oscar had his pile over by the bookshelf. Cooper would take something from Oscar and take it over by Vince’s chair. Oscar would take something from Cooper and take it over by the bookshelf. They kept running past each other with toys in their mouths – often the same one the other had just taken from them. I was cracking up. That went on for 5 minutes.
Look at Oscar’s eyes! He’s all hunched over like he’s protecting the toy. They are daring each other to take their toy. Vince stuck that orange bone in the green ring so the bone stands up and the dogs love it like that. They do this ALL day!

We had a Schnauzer for a while and then got an Irish Setter. The Setter would take a Frisbee and throw it across the yard. Our Schnauzer who had laid out on the carpet for years, came to life with this challenge. They were fun for us and for each other.

That’s so nice that the Schnauzer found new life when the puppy arrived.

This makes me laugh! I love it!! I wish we had gotten litter mates, but I don’t think we could have handled TWO of them! Bubba is nearly 21 weeks old and is 30 pounds of pure muscle and movement. He makes us laugh – when we’re not questioning our sanity!
Thank you for all of the updates. Keep them coming!

I understand. Oscar has grown up and calmed down so much. Despite the work and constant dealing with them, they are so worth it.
