Yesterday morning it was cold in the house when we got up. I’m not even sure what the low was but I think it was 61 upstairs. Vince was sitting in his chair wrapped in a quilt and he said “I think we need to turn the heat on!”
The tradition here is that on the day we turn the heat on, Chili Season begins! Vince doesn’t like cumin and I am not crazy about chili powder so when I make chili, I use a little bit of chii powder and a little bit of cumin.
I told him . . I’m happy to turn the heat on and I grinned. He knew what that meant . . chili for dinner!
After we ate, he said “That was really good!” I told him . . it had cumin in it. He said “I know. I could taste it! That’s how it has to be I guess.” Yep . . until we turn the air conditioner on and Chili Season is officially over. 🙂

Love chili season! Made my first batch for fall this past Thursday night for the Chiefs game, along with some corn bread. YUM!

I love it! I could eat it way more than Vince could.

Since we don’t really have seasons here, we have chili pretty much year-round…just not when it’s hot but not hot enough for A/C. My husband really loves it, and it doesn’t last long!

Chili season is off to a slow start here. Even though our nights are cool, it was almost 80 yesterday and the plants in the greenhouse are begging for relief. We should be having much cooler temps here by now. But, at least it isn’t 120 degrees.
