It’s hard to believe it was three years ago today when the movers brought our first load. It wasn’t until April that they brought the final load and the move was official. Vince was in no hurry to move to Missouri til spring so the Texas house didn’t go on the market til March, sold quickly and it was April by the time the deal closed and the final move was made.
I’m so happy to be closer to Chad and his family. Vince is happy to be here too. I think he’d rather be where there are mountains or a beach, but this is where we are. We had talked about buying a cabin somewhere – mountains, lake – but I think we talked ourselves out of that. Twice as much maintenance, twice as much property taxes and these days, with someone not living full time in a place, theft in a lot of places is a big problem. If we had family here and family there and wanted to spend time in both places, I could see it but having two places, to me, means I’d still be cleaning, doing laundry, cooking, and it would probably be harder to plan meals for two places – whatever I needed would be at the other place. I think we’re fine where we are.
This morning, since it was cool and crisp outside, Vince went over to the storage buildings and brought home about a dozen boxes. One or two were full of pillows. I washed the ones I could wash and hung the others out on the line to air. I washed all the pillow covers. That’s in the dryer now so we’ll have more options for pillows tonight. We’re weird because we are always switching pillows. This one is too hard. This one is too soft. This one doesn’t hold its shape through the night.
Vince said he’ll go every day or every few days and get boxes. We can go through them, donate or toss what we don’t want and work towards getting rid of the rental buildings.
I haven’t taken a stitch yet today but right now, both dogs are in “time out” in their crates so I’m going to get some stitching done. Cooper’s little teeth are so sharp and even an easy bite hurts so Oscar gets rough with Cooper. One or both of them end up squealing so . . time out for a while and we’ll see if there’s been an attitude adjustment.
We came in from them running and playing hard outside for about half an hour. They both slept for about two hours so . . this is what I get. I was doing laundry and folding clothes, making menu plans for next week . . they play so well together most of the time but in the evenings, they seem to both get too rought.

Those puppy teeth are so sharp…poor Oscar! Thankfully, baby teeth fall out (I can’t remember how long it takes). My son had a storage unit when he drove a semi for music concerts years ago. I told him with the amount of money he was paying per month, he could easily replace most of it and what he wanted to keep could go in our basement. He would be gone basically 9 months and then have a break the end of the year for a couple of months. Now he is driving a bus for concert tours…it’s a hard life in my opinion. I hope he is making good money!

It is a waste. I know we don’t have enough value in those units to justify having paid for three of them for one year, and now two of them for two years but . . not my stuff (mostly); not my call.
I do hope your son is making good money and I hope he is appreciated.

It does not seem like that long and yet it seems like you have been gone forever. Your name is mentioned here with great love and remembrance. You would love the new Common Grounds. The menu has extended and they have lunches now. It is a good thing we have the conference room now because that room is filled every day. Pilar has moved to Dickenson and we do miss her. Has a great job there. Mike is looking. The group still has fun and we still laugh a lot. Every once in a while Marco or Bethany bring up the “Boobie Pillow”! LOL We do miss you though. If you ever come back and are in our area, please stop by and see us! I would love it. It is just me and the dogs now. But I am tough and we are making it!

Thanks, Nelle. That’s so sweet. I see the FB posts from Common Grounds and oh, how I wish I could eat there and visit with y’all. Oh, my. I had forgotten the Boobie Pillow! Thanks.
You know you would be the first I’d let know if I was going to be in town but that’s a long way from anywhere I’d need to be in that area. I miss you and the others too.
I know you’re tough (in a good way) and I know you will make it!
