Really, it’s the same puppy but yesterday, he was quiet, cooperative and docile. Today . . he’s a little Oscar or . . a typical Dachshund!
This morning it’s all fireball Cooper. Yesterday morning he got another round of shots and I’m sure it was a stressful day for him, being handed off to strangers so he was probably tired and didn’t feel 100%. Today . . whoa . . he is one energetic little guy.
Last night we put Cooper in the crate and that was a definite “NOT HAPPENING!” Vince didn’t want to hear him screaming all night. I kept telling Vince he would wear himself out but I know Vince was thinking “you’ll go to sleep and never hear it and I’ll be awake all night”. I said “Do you want me to go sleep with him?” Did we get Oscar when we were living in the basement after the upstairs floors had been redone? I remember that Vince and I were sleeping in the basement, he didn’t want a dog in the bed, so I slept on the sofa with Oscar that first night.
So, I put puppy pads under the fitted sheet and let both Oscar and Cooper sleep with me. Oscar was on one side; Cooper on the other. I’m not sure either of them moved a muscle all night. I woke up a little after 5 and couldn’t decide how to handle two pups that needed to go out separately. I thought I could get Cooper out of bed without Oscar waking but that didn’t happen so I had cooper in my right arm and scooped Oscar up in my left arm. I put Oscar in the crate, which I always do while I do the things I need to do . . took Cooper out, came in, fed him in the bathroom, took Oscar out . . it’s been a whirlwind of a morning. I put Cooper on the carpet, with a leash so I could easily separate them if Oscar got too rough. He didn’t and they played hard but Cooper had enough before Oscar did. Here’s a little video of them playing.

Looks like “Coop” is holding his own, a blur of tails and teeth. They both look very happy to be together!! They sure are cute.

I checked out both your posts about Cooper – how cute to see the 2 dogs playing together. I was SO shocked to hear Oscar went and got a chew toy for Cooper! Looks like you made a terrific choice – those two are going to be the best of friends and the 2 of you will get a break to be able to do other things, too. Bet they sleep really well tonight! So cute!

I still can’t get over Oscar sharing his chew toy with Cooper.

I think Oscar has met his match! And they are both so beautiful!

Thanks. I do think Oscar has met his match. Cooper is so sweet and so loving, where Oscar is more independent, but Cooper really gives it to Oscar and Oscar will back down before Cooper will.

They play just like my dog did with my former neighbor’s dogs. It looked and sounded like they were going to tears each other apart but were having a grand old time.

I think Cooper is going to be the boss…Oscar several times in the video went into a submissive position (belly up)….I think that’s an early indicator. Doesn’t matter who is the boss so long as they play well together! Cute video!

I guess one of them has to be the boss and you’re right, so long as they’re happy together, I’m happy.
