Last night I got a new picture of the puppy. The lady said “He LOVES being outside!”
I’m so excited to meet this little guy! I think he’s so adorable! Love his little speckled underneath side!
Yesterday when I was working in the sun room, I walked out on the deck a few times. A neighbor has a mini dachshund and a small Schnauzer and they were out in the fenced yard playing. They were running, and rolling and barking and having the best time. I’m sure Oscar and the puppy will be doing the same thing soon. They are so fun to watch!
We had kinda decided on naming him Oliver. I love the name but I feel like Oscar and Oliver will be confusing for them. I think we’re leaning towards Cooper but that could change by tomorrow. I could see us calling him Coop. Those two names sound totally different and to me at least, he kinda looks like a Cooper.

Right now I’m wishing we had gotten one of Oscar’s siblings. I wouldn’t be facing house training all over again but . . what if his siblings all act like he acts?? 🙂

He’s cute alright, but not as cute as my Cooper (Coop) who is about to finish law school and already has a job with a federal judge in Amarillo. I liked the first name you mentioned, Oreo!

Definitely not and I do not know your Cooper but I know he has to be adorable and that he’s a wonderful young man because I know your family! Congratulations to him, and especially to his parents.

Whatever name you choose (which could change when you lay eyes on him – THEN you’ll know!), he will be one lucky pup, and so will Oscar. I bet those 2 will be the best buddies, and it will take the pressure off you both in trying to keep him occupied enough to run off energy. I never knew much about dachshunds until I started reading your blog — who knew such little dogs could be such a whirlwind of energy?? Congratulations in advance — the time he arrives won’t be here soon enough, I’m sure! I bet they each end up in a lap each night – hopefully they won’t mind taking turns so no one gets jealous of the other. Dogs are sure like kids, aren’t they? Deb E

By the time we get home with him, there’s no telling what his name will be.

I really like Cooper but nothing is written in stone.

I have a customer named Oscar Cooper. LOL.
The new pup is adorable. Almost enough for me to want one. I said almost…. We haven’t owned a dog for more than 30 yrs. I have had ferrets for the last 20+ years and just lost our last. We travel between 2 houses and having a pet and traveling this much just wouldn’t work for us.

That’s funny about Oscar Cooper! That confirms for me that our puppy’s name needs to be Cooper.
Yes, sometimes we have to weigh it all out and make the best decision. Every now and then I wonder if we aren’t too tied down having the pets. We’ll soon have three dogs and a cat . . but we get so much pleasure from our pets, for us it’s worth it but I understand with a different lifestyle, having pets just wouldn’t be best for us or them.
