If you are a canner and haven’t watched any of the videos by Grow & Preserve, I encourage you to do so. She cans so many things that look amazing and everything I’ve canned based on recipes she’s shared . . it’s all be great.
In this video, she makes and cans and then shares pictures of the finished product for four different soups.
She called it “Soup Sampler” and while all four soups will get made, I started with the Chipotle Beef Soup. Another thing she did and often does is she lists the recipes so you don’t have to sit and take notes while watching her video. Thanks, Carter!
You know I’ve done a lot of canning but I don’t remember ever canning anything that smelled so yummy! I had the canner going in the basement garage and I could smell the soup upstairs, downstairs, even outside. I can’t wait to try it.
It was so easy to make because instead of making soup in a big pot and pouring it into jars, all of the raw ingredients went into the jars and the cooking took place during canning. I used three small to medium chuck roasts and made 12 quarts of the Chipotle Beef Soup and the day before, I made 10 quarts of Split Pea with Ham Soup.
Remember the hen that I had taken out of the freezer. Tomorrow it should be defrosted enough that I can season it and roast it and then use it to make the Chipotle Chicken Soup and the Chicken & Corn Chowder. I’m also going to try to make another batch of her Brunswick Stew this week. I’m thinking I should try to get as much canning done as possible this week because next week, I’ll have our new baby and we will probably both be playing with puppies.
