I love green tomato pickles. I think I love all food except red sauce. This is the first year in many years that I’ve had enough green tomatoes to do anything with. I made the green tomato curry and canned about 18 pints and a couple of half pints. It was so good that I bought 30 pounds of green tomatoes and made 20 more pints of the curry and green tomato relish. I picked 10 pounds of green tomatoes yesterday to make green tomato pickles. They’re cut and in the fridge brining now.
We’re supposed to have a storm tonight and they’re saying there’s a good chance of hail. I was hoping to find a couple of large green tomatoes to use for fried green tomatoes for dinner. I was surprised at how many more green tomatoes I found.
If we don’t get hail, I should have enough more in a couple of weeks to get this many again. There are lots of tiny green tomatoes and blooms out there. I’m so happy with my tomato harvest this year. Let’s hope I can do it again next year! 🙂

I’ve had a good harvest of tomatoes this year too. I freeze any damaged tomatoes and the green tomatoes left at the end of the season and make https://www.theblurrylime.com/appetizers/roasted-green-tomato-olive-tapenade/ usually cold on pitta bread with salad, but also warm with some additions as filling for portobello mushrooms or just pitta bread or burgers. Yum.

what recipe do you use for your pickled green tomatoes? I see there are dill ones and sweet ones. I have never had either one and will have a lot of green tomatoes to pickle this year.

I make sweet ones. I’ve made dill before but we like the sweet ones better.
