Sometimes I do have time to write a blog post and there’s not one thing I’ve done that would interest anyone. 🙂
This morning I started another batch of green tomato curry. I love that so much. We ate at a Thai restaurant while out of town yesterday and I got Spicy Basil Green Curry. So good!
Just when I got all the tomatoes in the roaster, Vince wanted to run to town so I turned everything off and went with him. We went out to the Mennonite market and bought eggs, then stopped by the new Dunkin’ Donuts, then to Aldi. I needed apples for a recipe I’m canning tomorrow and I’ve gone through about 10 pounds of onions in the last week so I needed more onions. They had ground turkey there in 2 pound, 4 oz. packages. It’s been a bit hard to find ground turkey lately. It isn’t like I can’t find it but Walmart may have it one time when I’m there and Aldi doesn’t, then Aldi will have it and Walmart won’t. They had 7 packages out so I asked the manager if they had more. He checked and said yes . . plenty. I didn’t want to take all 7 packages if that was all they had but I like canning 15 pounds at a time so I got all 7 package that were out and before I walked away, they were re-stocking the ground turkey.
Came home, cooked the turkey – not til it was brown but til it was no longer pink. There’s 11 quarts in the canner now. I ended up with 16 pint jars and three freezer container (pints) in the freezer. The water bath canner holds 8 pints so I had to make two runs with that canner while the big canner was pressure canning the turkey. I’m done for the day. 6 p.m. and I’m fixing to start cross stitching.

How do you use your canned ground turkey? I have a few packages in the freezer but it’s not something I often use.

I use it for Oscar’s food.
