We’ve given up on trying to harvest the big okra pods. They’re so far up that Vince can barely reach them with his tallest ladder. No need breaking his need over a pod of okra.
You can see how tall that one stalk is there. It’s crazy.
Then there’s the funny one with the weird flowers.
I had previously shown the cluster of buds.
I think it’s growing and the flower buds are getting farther apart. The flowers are a beautiful coral color on the outside (see top photo) but then open to a deep, buttery yellow.
It looks like there’s going to be flowers all up and down the stalk at each leaf node. Such a weird okra but so beautiful.

These plants are fascinating, I wish I could plant some of these fun things, up here in MN. Thanks for sharing the beautiful blooms.

Every area is so different. I LOVE ginger lilies and mine have grown like crazy this year but I’m not going to get a single bloom and those blooms are so gorgeous and so fragrant. In Louisiana, I could open the back door and smell them from anywhere in the yard. In Texas I could grow artichokes and they produced beautiful artichokes. It was while living in Kentucky that I was introduced to growing luffa. There’s always something that will grow here but not there; or there but not here. What I have to learn is that I can’t make EVERYTHING grow here! 🙂

I’d love to walk out in my backyard and look at my okra, but that’s not happening right now. I can see from the deck that it’s growing, though! Those are beautiful blossoms.

I love going out and looking at what’s growing. I’m always dragging Vince out to see something. I know he wants to says “I just saw it yesterday! It can’t be that different.” He’s a good sport most of the times.
