If you’re a grandma, you’re probably asking this same thing about your grandkids but . . seriously . . how did this girl grow up so quickly?
She definitely has that teenage attitude. They had their first game of the season today in our town so, of course we went, then we all went out to eat. Addie said something and Chad looked at me and said “She’s such a teen!” I said “That happens!” but I wanted to say “PAYBACK TIME!!” I would have except I didn’t want Addie to hear it. She’s not a bad kid but she is going to cause some gray hairs!

Those teenage years are definitely a “trying” time. She’s such a cute young lady – growing up SO fast!

The coming years are going to be the ones I’m happy to be living 45 minutes away instead of next door.

Wow, Addie is a beautiful young lady! What happened to the cute little girl who loved unicorns? Chad is going to have his hands full!!!

Chad is going to have his hands full but he’s up for the job. Chad is tough and Addie knows her limits. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t push those limits with him. She manages to rule the roost when Chad isn’t home though.

Addie looks so grown up. How did that happen?

Isn’t that crazy? So often a Facebook memory pops up and Addie was 2 or 3 and so sweet and so cute and I miss those days!

Addie is such a beautiful young woman! Our grandchildren seem to grow up so fast, that’s for sure. The older I get it seems time passes so much faster.
I believe that teenage years are preparation for parents to get ready for their kids to leave the nest.
It’s so nice that you live closer to them now.

You’re right that time passes so fast. Probably true that those stessful years are preparing us for them leaving the nest. Chad’s high school years were pretty rough but when he left for college (he was only an hour a way and came home every weekend), it was tough.
After he graduated from college, he was in no rush to find a job. Vince took the job in Texas the month before Chad graduated and we laughed and said “If he wasn’t going to leave home, we would.” But, the day we drove away from that house, headed to Texas, I think I cried for hours. I stopped to say goodbye to our UPS guy and I couldn’t stop crying. Felt like a crazy woman.
I am SO glad to be closer to them. It was days like yesterday that make me so very glad. We met them at the game, then we all went to eat together.

Oh Judy, I haven’t been on in months! Crazy at home. Addie is so pretty! Where did the time go? I remember when she was born! You posted about the phone call during the night! She was named after a song! Watching her grow up and now she’s a cheerleader! I am glad you and Vince are closer now! Memories are still special no matter what age she is! She will always remember you being there! Take care! You have reason to be proud of your family! Erin Bennett

Your comment made me smile. Yes, they named her after a cajun song. So nice to hear from you!

She’s a beautiful young lady. As children, and as parents, we lived through the teen years. She will be a beautiful person, because she already is.

My goddaughter is getting close to being 40! Nope, nope, nope. Not possible! I think its true that grandchildren are the reward for not killing your children. Of course you laugh when your children end up with a child tempered just like them. One of my cousins was a terror as a child. Now he has two sons exactly like him. His mother smirks when they get started.

The sad part is that Nicole was apparently an angel child and never even rolled her eyes at her parents or her teacher. Yes, I did that ONCE! Every time Chad tells me something Addie has done, I look at him and he knows exactly what I’m thinking . . payback. When Nicole tells me something Addie has done, I say “I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with the attitude she inherited from her dad. But, Chad was a spunky, fun kid and I wouldn’t change anything. The other day I said something about Oscar being a crazy dog and Vince said “I think he was normal before he came to live with you.” I wondered . . maybe that explains some of Chad’s behavior but, he has grown up to be an amazing human and an ever better dad. When we were at Addie’s game Saturday, there was hardly a time that someone didn’t plop down beside Chad on the bleachers and talk to him. He knows everyone and they all seem to like him so I look at my gray hair and smile. We apparently made it through and everything is good.
