Yesterday I had a video chat with my doctor and she said . . I don’t know why every time I say “I talked to the doctor” I think of that old song “Put the Lime in the Coconut“. That tells you my age!
Anyway, we were talking about my foot pain. I think when I had talked to her about it before, we both thought it was more plantar fasciitis issues but I no longer think that and neither does she. She feels like it’s extensor tendonopathy.
The other night I had been out with Oscar and had taken my shoes off in the garage. I was heading to take a shower so I hadn’t put my “inside” shoes on. Vince was up and he walked up to me and kinda bumped his toes to my toes (like a little head on collision). That hurt so bad and he really didn’t do much more than touch my toes. He was playing and certainly didn’t mean to hurt me but I thought . . it’s time to seriously talk to the doctor about this.
She told me a few things to do but the best thing . . stay off your feet for three full days! She didn’t mean really don’t stand up but she meant stop canning, stop cooking, do as little as you can. You know I’m not the best patient so I said “Vince, I can’t cook. Can we go to Cane’s and get chicken, go to Walmart and get the pain cream she recommended, and go to Hobby Lobby and get floss I need for three new charts?” We did and I’m thinking since I did all that yesterday, today will be my first day of staying off my feet.
My plan is this: Other than getting up to take Oscar out, probably watering the garden, and I do have to make and can Cincinnati Chili today because the ground meat is thawed, I’m sitting and stitching today, tomorrow and Monday. Sound like a good plan? I think so!

My son is a Podiatrist and you really, really, REALLY need to find a good one as it seems you have some serious pathology going one. Best of luck. Love your posts!!!

I’m pretty sure it’s the tendonitis. I’ve seen a podiatrist for years in Texas and have seen one here. The naturopath I’m seeing now seems to be helping more than the podiatrists I’ve seen.

Hope you can take it easy. Is the pain cream OTC or prescription?

OTC. Tiger Balm alternating with Voltaren.

Thanks. I hope you are getting some relief.

Me too. Yesterday I took the Ibuprofen, used the ice and the Tiger Balm and my foot felt much better. Today, I did the same thing and have had no relief.

How about an adjustable stool with wheels to be able to sit on while you can? I have a couple of those foam mats to stand on while at the sink and they really help with feet/knees/hips.
Hope the three days off works on your feet…. cooler days are coming, at least in the OKC area. It’s supposed to be 100s again today with a high of 88 tomorrow! Rain chances are increasing! YEA!

That’s way too much trouble. I’m constantly walking from the sink to the stove, to the other counter. The kitchen has hardwood floors and I’m not sure I’d want to be rolling around on those floors.
I know you’re ready for cooler days. It’s 11:10 a.m. and only 85 here. Our forecast doesn’t show any more 100+ degree temps but we have a few mid 90 days with the heat index barely above 100. The end of the heat is in sight!

A few years ago I broke an ankle and was none weight bearing for 12 weeks. We ended up buying me a drafting chair that I could use in the kitchen. I could pull myself along the counter to move around the kitchen. Emptying boiling pots was a bit dangerous as held it with one hand to roll to the sink but at least it was better than the wheel chair. I also had to be careful when I sat down that it didn’t roll away from me. You might find that helpful.

I really don’t even need to be in the kitchen. I had the ground beef defrosted so I had to can it but other than that, we have enough meals in jars to last a good six months. All Vince would have to do is open a jar or two, heat it up or maybe cook rice in the Instant Pot and dinner would be ready.
