I feel like I’m robbing Peter to pay Paul. The Azure Standard order arrives Thursday. Some of it goes into the freezer. I need space in a freezer. I pulled out 10 one pound rolls of ground pork. I made it into breakfast sausage, which will go back into the freezer. Did I make any freezer space? No! But, we have breakfast sausage for 24 mornings. We eat more bacon than sausage but considering we have lots of jars of canned sausage that will be used for sausage and gravy to go over biscuits, this batch of sausage will be enough to get us through probably a year.
I always take a little bit of the sausage and fry it up to do a taste test. This one needed a bit more salt. I’m always afraid of putting too much salt so I generally need to add salt. Got that done, made it all into patties.
I cook four patties for breakfast. Vince will usually eat two. I’ll usually eat one and a half and then Vince will eat the other half but sometimes I take the two smaller patties and give Vince two larger patties so I package them in packs of four, vacuum seal them and keep them in the freezer til needed. I ended up with six trays so that’s enough sausage for 24 breakfasts.

Love this idea to make things so much more convenient. I am preparing my first order with Azure since I finally live near a drop. I should say I have already overloaded my cart and am now in the process of whittling it down, lol. I keep reminding myself I only have but so much freezer space! I wonder if you would share your order or maybe what your favorite items are from Azure. Thanks!

Stephanie, I way over ordered on my first couple of orders. I was like a kid in a candy store. I’ve gotten better. Lol

I don’t know if I over ordered on my first order but every now and then I seem to over order. Either they will have things in stock that have been out of stock or new things I want to try.

Tomorrow is our pickup day. I love buying from Azure and I love getting a big order and not needing to buy groceries for a month!
My favorite things:
1. I buy a lot of my grains there but I mill almost all our flour, oats, barley, etc. There have been a lot of complaints about the grains but I have always received perfect grain from them.
2. The raw pepper jack cheese in the 5 pound pack is just amazing. I almost always buy 5 pounds every month and would buy 10 if I thought it wouldn’t kill me to eat that much cheese.
3. Their bulk spices are quite reasonable and very good. Tomorrow I’ll pick up one pound of mustard seeds ($6.12), one pound of ground mustard ($9.80) and a pound of basil, cut and sifted for $7.46.
4. I’ve never had bad produce. I buy a lot of their organic carrots. They’re like candy! So much different from the carrots we get in the stores around here.
5. I buy their Brazil nuts and raw almonds.
Some things I check prices and I can get for less at Sam’s but for anything I want organic, especially fresh produce, I get it from Azure.

As for freezer space, this month I only ordered 5 pounds of carrots. I usually order 25 pounds because I use a lot of them in Oscar’s food and he gets carrots to munch on if we’re outside. He loves them. Vince and I eat a lot of carrots as snacks too.
I ordered two boxes of cranberries and they will be frozen but I will probably put them all in the steam juicer when I get home tomorrow and turn them all into juice.
I do have to think about (1) how we’re going to get it all home and (2) where we’re going to store it. It’s really easy to overdo the ordering.
