We have temperatures well over 100 for the next 6 days, with some of our heat indexes to be around 113. My tomatoes are very near the end of their life. I’m kinda ready to be done with them but I’m going to miss fresh tomatoes. I have a couple started that I’m hoping will produce in the greenhouse in the fall and winter but we’ll see . . it all depends on how cold it gets.
I told Vince yesterday I was going to pull all the green tomatoes off and make green tomato relish, which I love, but then I felt like I was murdering my tomato plants so I decided to wait. Last night I was watching a video from That 1870’s Homestead and she was making Green Tomato Curry. I can’t stop thinking about that.
There’s a restaurant in Joplin I love (Magic Noodle) and they have a green curry with basil and tofu and I love that so much. Vince isn’t a big curry fan but if he doesn’t want it, I can have that on the days he has spaghetti! I think he’ll like it though.
Now I’m ready to go out and pull all my green tomatoes. I’m really excited to try this recipe.
Once I pull all the green tomatoes, I can dump the bags the tomatoes were growing in, start adding compost to that soil to get it built up and ready to re-use in the fall but I can also refill the bags with fresh soil and plant kale or beets or cabbage.

Curry sounds good, I also like to make green tomato mincemeat. Fabulous pies.

I have never had any kind of mincemeat. Sounds interesting. I need to at least look at a recipe and see if it’s anything like what I think it might be.
