We were at Aldi earlier in the week and bought two packages of blueberries. We have a lot of blueberries in the freezer that we picked at a local blueberry farm. Oscar loves them and I’m adding them to his food and giving him a few for a treat every now and then. The ones that we picked were quite a bit more than the ones at Aldi so I figured we’d buy the ones from Oscar there. Yesterday morning we were having blueberries with our yogurt at breakfast and I used some of the ones we had bought for Oscar. They were really good . . maybe better than the ones we had picked. I was telling Vince so he said “Let’s go back and get more!” I didn’t mind at all because there aren’t enough blueberries in the freezer to make it til next year’s blueberry season. Yesterday afternoon we went back to Aldi. I was going to get 12 pints and . . you know Vince . . he said get 24 packs so we got 24 pints. I came home, vacuum sealed them so now we have 24 more bags of blueberries.
We have hulled barley . . cooked like oatmeal, at least five days each week. Even if we have eggs, we still have barley. We have blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and cherries in the freezer. We can almost always get fresh strawberries in the store but they are sometimes tasteless. We also sometimes add apple or peaches or pears – whatever we can get fresh. Maybe some day we’ll get fresh figs!
Anyway . . we keep a variety of fruit on hand and I didn’t want to run out of good blueberries so I think we’s set for a while.
