The garden is slowing down. I’m not sad about that. We’ve had a break from the heat. I don’t think it got out of the 80’s the last two days and I think today and tomorrow won’t be miserable hot but then we have a week of 100 to 102 degree highs, then . . fingers crossed . . temps start slowing dropping. By the end of September, our forecast shows lowest in the 40’s. I cannot wait!
There are still a few pretty tomatoes out there.
Probably within the next few weeks, I’ll pick all the green ones and make green tomato relish that we love and the tomatoes will be history for the outside garden. I’m going to try to save some in the greenhouse and I’ve already started some seeds for greenhouse tomatoes. Not sure a few tomatoes will be worth running a heater in the greenhouse but we’ll see how they’re looking by the time we need heat.
Okra will be fine til frost. I’ve already given Vince the warning . . the day of the first frost, we have to pull the okra out, add composted cow manure and more soil to that bed and get the garlic planted. I have some beets and cabbage already planted but those things don’t keep me nearly as busy as does the summer garden.

Sounds like a great fall and fall garden!
