The project for today was finishing up the pizza sauce. I got 9 half pints and 1 quarter pint. This sauce is so good . . so much better, in our opinions, than any we can buy.
I can’t wait til it gets cool enough that we can start making pizzas in the outside pizza oven. I will make another batch of this. I would love to have about 30 half pints of this on the shelf but I doubt I get more than one more batch of this made.
Nicole wants to learn to make the tomato products to can so I told her I’d share my tomatoes with her. She has four or five gallon bags of their tomatoes that she will bring but I’d like to send her home with a variety of products so I’m sure we’ll end up using some of my tomatoes out of the freezer but that’s ok. I end up giving them a lot of what I’ve made anyway. That’s what we do for our kids!

When I make my own, I hardly use any red sauce and homemade pizza sauce tastes quite different from storebought red sauce. In the Fall, up until it gets too cold out, we will cook pizza outside and eat out on the deck. It’s as much the fun of doing it that way as it is the pizza.
