You know it doesn’t take much for me to get really aggravated about our vehicle situation. One thing that is extremely frustrating to me is that I begged Vince to buy a car back when vehicles were plentiful, prices were lower and no one could have guessed how the car situation would be these days. I told him . . our cars are not going to last forever. I think he’s on a mission to prove me wrong.
But, here we are with a 27 year old vehicle, a 22 year old vehicle and a 16 year old vehicle. Vince likes to do all the running around town in the CRV, which is the 22 year old vehicle. Last week, I told him . . I don’t think the a/c is cooling very well. He cannot accept that something is every wrong with that car. He said “It’s just a super hot day!” Yes, it was a super hot day but that didn’t mean we had to be dripping wet with sweat in a car if the a/c was working. Finally he decided it must need refrigerant so he took it in this morning. Nope, refrigerant was fine. The guy told him to do something . . clean something and if that didn’t help, make an appointment and he would check the whole system. He told me . . I think it’s working ok now . . because we all know that a/c problems fix themselves, right. I don’t know why I agreed to do it but we went to town in that car this morning.
I was not a happy passenger riding in a car with the windows down when the outside temp was over 100.
One evening I had groceries delivered and the driver said (about the Highlander) “If you ever want to sell that car, I’ll buy it.” I told him . . the best way to get one of our vehicles is to watch the obituaries! I guess that was a very true statement.
OK . . end of rant. Nothing is going to change but you can bet I will not be going anywhere in that car til the mechanic has found something wrong with the a/c and fixed it.

When my folks moved to Texas, we bought a new K-car (first year K-cars were available) that had no air conditioning. We made our first visit to Dallas in August with 2 small kids in the car. The bank sign as we pulled into the city said the temperature was 103, and we were riding with the windows down. We made subsequent trips to Dallas every summer with that car until it was traded in. Needless to say, I was never so happy to get a car with air conditioning as when we traded that thing in!! I understand!

I’m pretty sure you don’t agree with me on this, but when the car I drive starts having too many issues that my husband thinks is just my imagination I trade it off on something that is in good condition. I’ve done that three times now and he still hasn’t killed me. He hates car shopping anyway because he thinks everything, no matter what it is, is too expensive and we should do without. Not happenin’.

Nope, not going anywhere in a car without air conditioning! Now today, it’s only 60 degrees here and raining–but don’t tell Vince–he will want to move here again!

You’re right. Not telling Vince though I think he’s figured out I’m not going anywhere else.

That’s too hot to do without AC when we don’t have to. When I was little and we lived in West Texas, and there were no air-conditioned cars, it was one thing. We didn’t know any better. I, personally, would not ride in a car during the hot months if there were no AC! I’m too old to enjoy that lack of luxury!
