Yesterday I made dog food. Oscar loves all his food – he isn’t a picky eater
It’s all human ingredients so I feel good feeding this to Oscar and Rita. It’s all ingredients we would eat.
This is about 12 – 14 days worth of food for Oscar. If Rita is eating this too, it will last 6 – 7 days. Rita isn’t as crazy about this food and I think it’s because the carrots are raw and she doesn’t have many teeth. I have been mixing up the food and dividing Rita’s portion out before I add the carrots but she still isn’t crazy about it. For now, we’re mixing a little of the homemade with the Honest Kitchen food and she’s fine with that. It may be more of a texture issue with her.
Speck ate homemade food for at least the last 8 years of his life and he thrived so I’m hoping Oscar will too. Let’s just hope it doesn’t give him more energy!

She doesn’t do that any more. She’s uncomfortable out of little fenced in area. In Texas, she knew her way around before she went blind. Here, she’a always been blind and she’s so unsure of Oscar. She knows he can’t get to her when she’s in her private space so that’s where she wants to stay.

My dog loves your recipe but I’m unsure about the amount to give her. What does Oscar get and how often. Thanks.

Oscar is a pig! I don’t really measure but I’m guessing he gets about 3/4 cup twice a day. He has a little toy that I put hard food in and he play with it to get the food out. I probably put about 1/2 cup of food in that thing and he gets that mid-morning. He weighs 14 pounds and is terribly active.
