Yesterday when Chad was here, we were talking about whether we would make tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, salsa . . whatever they wanted to make with their tomatoes. They want to learn to make it and can it. Chad brought up spaghetti sauce I had made and canned years and years ago. This isn’t the first time he’s reminisced about that spaghetti sauce. I remember him going on and on about it but I have no idea what I did that made it so good.
He said “We lived at Landsdowne”. That was the little house we had in town in Kentucky and we moved away in 2006 so he’s still remembering a recipe I made at least 17 years ago. He said “I think you used mostly cherry tomatoes.” Possibly! We had a back yard that was maybe 40′ deep and not very wide. We built a wood fence and my garden spot was tiny so I had mostly cherry tomatoes growing but I did have a few others.
I’m thinking that at that time in my life, I was mostly using canning recipes from Ball canning books so I’m going to go back through the ones I had that were at least pre-2006 editions and see what I can find. I’m not sure Chad will even remember what it tastes like enough to recognize it if I made it again.
I told him I’ll make several recipes, can 4 – 6 jars of each and let him do a taste test. That will be interesting.
Also interesting . . I looked back on old blogs to see if I could find a recipe and I couldn’t but I did find where I put a spaghetti squash in the microwave and apparently didn’t poke holes in it.
Yep, it exploded and made a huge mess. Not my first mess. Not my last mess but the last time I put a spaghetti squash in the microwave without either poking holes in it or cutting it in half. 🙂

LOL, one would only need that lesson once!
