We had been to town the other day and came home to find a cat sitting by the garage door. She sat there and watched us drive up, then she ran off. When I first saw her, I said “Oh! Cat has found us!” I could tell this cat was a tortoise shell and from a distance, she did look like Cat but once I got closer to her, she is more black and tan with just a little orange (more peachy) where Cat was more black and orange with just a little tan. Every day, for three days, she’s been here. Today she was watching me out working in the yard. I wasn’t going to feed her because (1) we don’t need another pet and (2) she probably has a home and needs to be there and not here where there’s a busy road nearby. I did put water out for her but today, I decided she;s been here long enough that I should probably feed her so I put some food out.
She isn’t feral but she is skittish. She’ll come near me but I doubt I could pet her . . I’m not trying . . learned that lesson from Cat. No matter how much she acted like she wanted me to pet her, she would slap at me with those razor sharp claws if I tried to pet her.
We really don’t need two dogs and two cats but . . if that’s what we have . . that’s what we have.
I was reading to Vince what I found about tortoise shell cats and their attitude. We decided torties are just dachshunds dressed up like cats! 🙂

I have a Torti rescued from a parking lot as a tiny kitten 5 years ago, she’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever had. She loves to help me quilt!
