Here’s where I left off with For the Love of Nature:
The entire border is done . . at least the frame of it is stitched. I still have to go back and finish the hearts in the border and there are a few leaves that need to be stitched. The letters are all stitched except the “V”. I stitched the letters of our family – A, C, J, N and will stitch V with a different color floss. It isn’t much different but it is different and I need to stitch the V.
As far as the top half of the chart, I need to add the smoke to the second chimney, finish the shutters, windows and door on the house, finish the deer, the bird on the deer and a few other little things.
Here’s the pattern cover:
I’m thinking the bottom looks cluttered . . at least for me. I think the tree between the house and the deer, I’ll stitch the tree and the squirrel. I may not stitch the flower between the house and the tree. I may stitch the flower between the tree and the deer. I think I’m going to switch the small moth under the left side of the house and stitch it under the deer and leave off the larger moth. I’ll stitch the rabbit and probably only stitch a small heart between the deer and the raccoon. I think I’ll leave off the tree between the raccoon and the fox and move the flower over closer to the raccoon.I’m not going to stitch the three trees below the deer. I think I may leave the two middle smaller trees out, leave off some of the flowers, leave the tree that’s centered under the deer. I’m not sure what 1822 represents so I think I’ll leave it off and drop that far right tree down to the bottom. Thoughts on those changes??

.. I agree – leave off some of the motifs. Stitch the bigger sections first where you want them and then fill in as the mood hits you. I am also thinning out some of the motifs on the piece that I am working on. After all, this is a hobby for us to enjoy.

Good idea. That’s what I’ll do. It will be a few weeks before I get back to it.

I went ahead and did everything but then I’m one that rarely changes anything..lol I tried to find out the significance of the 1822 and could never find any reference to it. Then one day I happened to see Teresa Kogut reference another year on a different pattern (can’t recall what pattern) and she said there was no significance to that number. So, I’m assuming there was no real reason for the number. Thinking back, I should have put my husband’s birth year as the number since I chose the pattern for him. 🙂

What ever you decide will be great and individual. As for 1882 I would put 2023?

– Although the bottom does have a lot going on, I think it adds to the perspective of the piece. The smaller trees and animals add weight to the lower half to balance the large deer and house. Just a thought 🙂
