I think it’s the stash of beautiful yarn wanting to be made into sweaters that is calling me back to knitting. Yesterday when Vince and I were talking about whether I would continue knitting, I said “At least I should have the yarn I need for the rest of my days.” He said “Does that mean I won’t see any yarn arriving here?” I told him . . not necessarily because there could be a time when I would need yarn. Say there’s something I want to knit and I have enough to make a sweater but there’s some . . I can’t even remember what you call it . . where there’s a design you put it in adding one or more colors. If I have . . say Madelinetosh DK in black and I need two skeins of white for adding a design . . yes, I could use yellow or pink or something else but if I have my heart set on adding two skeins of white, I’ll order two skeins of white. So, I’m not willing to say I’ll never order another skein of yarn but I’m pretty committed to saying I won’t be ordering boxes and boxes of yarn just to add to the stash.
My spreadsheet from 2019 has over 900 entries of yarn.
The left column is the number of skeins and the right column is total yardage for that particular set of skeins.
OK . . I won’t even order two skeins of white yarn. I’ll find something in the stash to use! 🙂

Oh goodness!! Another spreadsheet lover!! Last year I went through my spreadsheet of stash yarns and estimated how many projects I could knit with just my stash yarn. I literally could knit for the next six years without buying more yarn. Has that stopped me? Not a chance.

I am done buying yarn. It’s like the cross stitching – I love all the yarn and all the charts so why keep buying more. I’ll never knit up all the yarn or stitch all the cross stitching charts. My daughter-in-law knits and I think she’ll love my yarn when I’m gone. Not sure she’ll love my cross stitching.

I have a huge stash, but I don’t necessarily have exactly what I need for all projects. There is a DK weight sweater I want to make, but I don’t have any sweater quantities of DK yarn. I just have a few random skeins of DK. Darn! I need to order yarn…LOL

And, you should probably order enough for at least three sweaters because . . what if the color you order arrives and it isn’t exactly what you wanted! 🙂

. My sister is going through her yarn stash and is planning to give some of it to a local group that makes blankets for babies. Her issue is that someone gave her boxes of yarn when she was knitting. A lot of the yarn got tangled up so she is also trying to rewind as well as organize the stuff.

Most all of the yarn I have has to be hand washed and spread out flat to dry so most folks aren’t going to want to deal with laundering it.
Good luck to her. Untangling yarn is a huge pain.
