I keep “grab and go” bags for everything. I have one for the dogs that has an empty bowl with a lid and a quart jar of freeze dried food, which is enough to last them a few days, two extra bowls for food and two extra bowls for water, extra harnesses, leashes, small blankets, their heartworm and flea meds (I actually use the ones out of the bag each month and put a new one in the bag), treats, chew toys and a few other things. I keep an overnight bag for me. it has everything except clothes so any time I go anywhere for overnight, whether it’s one night or two weeks, I take that bag. Then I have another bag for clothes. But, I have a “Sanity” bag that I keep things I can do. It has a note in it that says “iPad, Kindle, Phone, Chargers” so I know to grab those things. It also has a couple of knitting projects – a sweater, socks that are started and yarn for more socks.
Today we had to make a little unexpected trip and I knew there would be some waiting so I grabbed my “Sanity” bag and, while I was waiting, I worked on a sweater that I hadn’t worked on in over a year. I started this in March, 2022 and haven’t worked on it in over a year.
I started knitting and Vince said “I’m surprised you remember how to knit!” Really?? 🙂
I really do enjoy knitting and I think I’ll keep working on this sweater. It will have short sleeves so it will be a nice Fall sweater.
The pattern is Panic by Casapinka. The yarn is Madelinetosh DK Twist in Tern (Particle). It looks like the yarn has been discontinued. I think Madelinetosh DK is still available and Tern is still available but not sure about the “particle” which I think makes it more speckled looking. I went back and looked and this yarn was ordered in December, 2015. I love my stash . . whether it’s yarn, floss, linen, fabric . . it’s like money in the bank and I know I’ll never run out of things to do. I may run out of time in which to get things done but I’d rather leave behind projects not completed than get them all done and have nothing to do.

I would love to learn how to knit, but my quilting and cross-stitch stash has taken up all the available space. 😉

I love it when you write about knitting! I’m considering selling my longarm. It just sits there with a cover over the machine. My quilt fabric stash isn’t large but I have a ton of thread.

Vince and I were talking about the same thing. It’s never been hooked up since we moved.

I am glad to hear you talking about knitting again. Some of us didn’t get the cross stitch bug again (been there, done that many years ago),. Wish you would get the quilting bug again!

Never say never but I don’t feel the quilting bug coming back. Maybe it will surprise me.

I, too, hold out hope for quilting to reenter your life. I loved making your patterns. I had printed several of the free ones (glad I did) as the others I’d saved have disappeared.
Neither the knitting nor cross stitch bug have bitten me yet. I’m 99.9% sure it won’t.
I love reading about all of the things you do.

I have tried so many times to recover all those patterns and either they’re gone for good or I’m too dumb to figure out how to find them. I wish I could!

I literally was just wondering if you were still doing any knitting and then saw this post! LOL I’m trying to use up some stash, but I’ve been making some charity projects, so I’ve been crocheting since that goes faster for me.
