Do you get tired of hearing about the newest “plan” for my stitching? Some day I’m going to hit on the perfect plan for me.
In May, there’s Maynia, there’s May Madness, there’s 5 x 5 or 5 x 6 and probably other things going on. Maynia is “stitch maynia”. It may be starting a new project each day in May or working on a different project each day – any number of ideas but it means intense stitching in May.
Some are doing 5 x 5 or 5 x 6 which means working on five different projects, each for either five or six days. There’s also 6 x 5 where you would work on six projects during the month, each one for five days.
May Madness is where there’s a number drawn each day (the night before) and that’s how many stitches you have to make that day.
I’m doing May Madness and I’m stitching 6 projects, each one for five days. So far, I’m loving it. I feel very relaxed and content, knowing that at the end of Day 5, I put it away, no matter where I am in the stitching, and I move on to the next one.
Days 1 through 5 of May were spent stitching on This I Know by Plum Street Samplers. I actually started on May 31 and spent about an hour stitching because I like to figure out where I’m going to start, make the first few stitches so on the actual day I’m supposed to start stitching, I can hit the deck running.
I feel like I made a lot of progress in five days. I don’t think I could finish it in five more days but maybe if I had eight days, maybe nine. I think I’m going to put this one back on June’s calendar. I have a lot going on in June – a visit for almost a week and a trip to Louisiana for a full week. Maybe the first week in June, I could finish stitching the sheep, then take this with me to Louisiana and do all the grass stitching there. Maybe I’ll even just outline stitch the rest of the house and I can do all the fill in work on that too. We’ll see.
It looks like the windows are eyes and they’re winking at me.

No, I don’t get tired of hearing your stitching plans! It makes me feel like I’m not the only crazy, crafty person because I do the same thing 🙂

I love hearing about your stitching and the various plans you do! I hadn’t heard of May-nia until you mentioned it. I saw Denise post something about working on projects but reserving Thursdays for Three Things Sampler. I loved that idea so my plan is a different WIP each week of May and going back to my Three Things on Thursdays. I also decided to add And A Forest Grew for Fridays. I won’t get very far on those projects doing it like that but I feel like at least I’m moving them along.

Good plans. I love that we can all come up with plans that work for us, and then change those plans and there are no deadlines and no guilt.

I like hearing your plans – I’m trying to break myself from being mostly monogamous – I having trouble getting things started so I keep pulling out the one I’m working on – Modern Folk Embroidery Reaching Skyward 2023. At least I’m making good progress – think I’m about 25% done at this point.

Don’t do it, Cheryl! 🙂
I’d love to be a monogamous stitcher but I don’t see that happening.

It’s always interesting to see where you’re going. As long as you are happy with it, and you are, it’s all good!

Hi Judy, NO I do not think you are crazy, just admire how much you get done, what with all going on around your stitching time.
Qu : When you say you will outline a motif and fill in later, is your outline Backstitch or Cross stitches
Love your blog my friend.
Love & God Bless

Not real outline – I’ll just make the perimeter x-stitches so all I have to do is fill in – i.e., the roof on the current project.
