Vince’s weight loss seems to have resulted in a massive increase in his energy level. I am NOT complaining about that!
Back in June, we bought bidets for our toilets. I was so happy to get them and kept asking . . “Are you going to install them today?” After a while, I said “Can we just get a plumber to come put them on?” Don’t get me wrong . . Vince does a lot around here and sometimes, the things I want done NOW just aren’t real high on his priority list, and I understand that.
I was very surprised this morning when he came downstairs with a box and I said “What’s in the box?” and he said “The bidet. I’m going to install it today!” And . . he did.
Let me tell you . . it is more amazing than I thought. We bought the Tushy Spa 3.0 models. I don’t think it took him long to hook it up and now that he’s done one, it shouldn’t take long at all to get the others installed. These do provide hot/cold water but the basement sink takes FOREVER for hot water to get to the sink. Vince was going to have to drill a hole through the side of the cabinet to hook into the hot water line and I told him . . don’t bother. I am NOT sitting there long enough for the water to get warm. Even if I turned it on when I went into the bathroom, it would take longer than I would need for the water to get warm and that’s a lot of water to waste so it’s just cold and it isn’t bad at all. I’m used to using the little hand held bottle and it always has cold water. Honestly, I think the cold water feels kinda good. TMI??
Second surprise – in August he ordered a fan for the basement family room. The ceiling in the family room is dropped and is maybe 6 to 8″ lower than a standard ceiling. It looks way lower because most of the main level has 12′ ceilings, then the first room you walk into in the basement is the family room and with just the 6″ lower than standard ceilings, it looks low but we’re used to it now. But, there was no fan in the family room. The basement stays cool enough that even during July and August, having a fan running is about all the cooling we need. Vince was afraid that even a low profile fan with a light would be too low so he ordered this fan. The reviews on this fan are not great so we’ll see how long it works. I was fine not having it during the winter but as summer heat approaches, I had asked a couple of times about getting it put up. He did that today too!
We had a light there. It looked more like a foyer type light to me so I was never crazy about it. There are canister lights around the room and that’s the only lights we used. I don’t think we ever used the center light fixture. In fact, one of the bulbs was burned out and we didn’t even know.
The new fan looks a little “not right for the room” to me but it’s such a cool fan. It has three speeds, a remote and works off an app. It reverses for winter. The light! Oh, my . . that’s where this little thing shines (no pun intended). It has warm light, medium white and cool white, each with three different brightness settings, all controlled by the remote or app.
Bright white, even on the dimmest setting is SO bright. When I first turned the light on, it was on the brightest setting of cool white and it really took me by surprise. I love it! I think this light is going to be so useful for choosing floss colors.
Would I be pushing my luck to ask for one of these lights in the sewing room? I won’t mention it today but some day soon, I’m going to spring that request on Vince.
I made sure to tell him thank you a million times because both of these were things I’ve been wanting to have installed.

I remembered how you felt about yours and thank you for making it worth keeping on in order to get it installed.

That light/fan is interesting. I hope it lasts a long time for you.

Before my friend moved, she had a seat with a bidet and the seat was a warmer type. It was always nice to go there and sit on a warm seat!!

There’s an electric plug right next to the master bathroom toilet and it would be so perfect for a heated toilet seat.

I’ll be looking forward to hearing how you like the fan. It looks pretty cool.

I’ll try to remember to post. One thing I know is that it doesn’t move air very far from the fan. Where I sit is almost right under it. I’m guessing the sofa across the room won’t feel much air movement at all but the light is amazing. I would love to keep it on while stitching but it’s right in Vince’s face if he’s leaning back in the recliner trying to watch TV.
