This is not a commercial! 🙂 I’ve had a lot of sitting and waiting and watching youtube the past couple of days so I’ve come across some amazing finds.
I mentioned 141 Design Company in yesterday’s blog post (the laser cut pieces for the ornaments). She also has a youtube channel and has some great finishing ideas.
One of the things I found in her Etsy store were these 9″ wide boards that can be ordered in the needed length. As with most everything (maybe everything) in her shop, it’s unfinished and a few coats of chalk paint is an easy finish. I want to stitch In All Things Be Exceedingly Diligent but never could decide how I would finish it. After seeing those boards, I think that may work.. The stitching will be 5-1/4″ x 22-1/2″ and I think mounted on this board and standing against a wall would be perfect. I need to do more math before deciding if, for sure I want the boards and what size exactly I would want.
Also, she has this “Interchangeable Sign Shelf Sitter” that is perfect for the long, narrow pieces. Where I order frames, the frame has to be at least 5″ wide. When there’s a piece that finishes at less than 2″, having 1-1/2″ border all the way around in order to make it big enough to fit into a 5″ frame . . that just doesn’t work. These are great for the Tiny Town series by Heart in Hand. Extra “inserts” can be purchased for each Tiny Town piece or simply attach magnets to the “insert” and to your cross stitched piece and change them out.
For $10.95, I bought a couple of extra inserts, though I will probably use magnets and save the inserts in case I end up using a totally different design on them.
It’s all I can do to stick with the project I’m working on and not pick up a Tiny Town piece and start stitching on that!
