Yesterday I ended up changing how I’m stitching. I had been using the Lowery stand with the Rolaframe frame and was so happy to be able to attach the frame to the stand from the top long edge, which made the frame centered in front of me and so much easier for stitching but in order to flip over to the back side, which is where I do my stops and starts, I had to remove the frame from the stand, push the stand back and flip the frame over, do the stops and starts, flip the frame back over, bring the stand back up closer, re-attach the frame to the stand. I wasn’t liking that and if Oscar was sitting really close to me, I’d whack him with the frame sometimes and he wasn’t liking that.
I got out my Rolaframe lap stand but the 23″ frame wouldn’t fit. I switched to the floor stand, which is huge. I think it will hold up to a 38″ frame and it really went all the way across the front of the loveseat so that was going to be a problem for Oscar getting up and down on the sofa and it was going to be a problem with the ottoman.
I kept messing with it and Vince said “What can I do to help?” He had me show him where the problem was and he said “I can make you a longer back board.” I know he CAN but having to get all the cuts right and drilled in exactly the right spot, and he said he’d have to go to Lowe’s or Home Depot for something . . if he were going to be making 10 of them, yes, but it really isn’t worth it for him to figure it all out to make one and he has a lot that he wants/ needs to be doing.
To make a long story short, I figured out that if I moved the outer pieces to the far outside, instead of just inside the edge, where the picture shows to put them, and if it turned them around so the wrong side is facing in, I could squeeze that 23″ frame into the lap stand. I will definitely make sure I don’t plan to stitch anything wider than what I can get on a 23″ frame for this stand. I do have a K’s Creations lap stand that will hold something wider. I have The Things Sampler on that now. I can still use the Rolaframe floor stand for wider things too but I’ll have to sit in a chair so the legs of the frame can go on either side of the chair.
There you can see how much stitching I got done on Rejoice Evermore. Here’s a closer view. The framework of the top border is stitched. Today I hope to get both side borders stitched. Doubtful but . . that’s my hope.
The best part is that Oscar can be right beside me. His movements don’t affect my stitching and my movements don’t bother him.
Love that little polka dotted dog! 🙂
