We had the Peep taste test when they were here this past weekend.
One thing about freeze dried foods is that once they’re done and all the moisture is out of them, there’s an intense flavor. For example, apples, strawberries, pineapple, etc. taste like the most amazing, sweet, crunchy fruit ever. My food processor/grater grates cheese fairly thickly. When I freeze dry cheese, it’s crunchy and has the cheese-ist flavor ever. It reminds me of a cheese cracker/chip. I think it’s really good
The flavors of everything are intensified. The Peeps made me realize that anything with artificial flavor or, maybe it’s flavorings that weren’t provided in that item by Mother Nature . . those things are never going to be at the top of my list of yummy foods/snacks.
We first tried the Fruit Punch Peeps. They were a bit sour in an unnatural sour way. Not like a lemon or a lime . . more of a fake sour – kinda like those sour worm candies.
The Dr. Pepper Peeps, the purple peeps, the sweeter ones were better. I don’t think Addie was terribly impressed. Chad didn’t like them at all. I don’t remember Nicole’s reaction.
It was a fun thing to try but I won’t be doing those again. I sent them all home with Addie. I’m sure she’ll share them with her friends and they’ll have fun with them. Don’t do it!
I’m not a Peeps fan anyway but opening the container and letting them dry out a bit is much better than freeze dried.

Not a real Peeps fan, either. I’d much rather have the fruit, probably shouldn’t have any of it! =)
