I think we have a weird dog! I’m blaming it on Vince. Has to be Vince’s fault. We use Roku for our TV. I have no idea what that means but the remote says Roku and when the screen saver comes on, it has ROKU in red on a black screen and the words are scrolling. Oscar HATES that screen. If Vince gets up from his chair, puts the TV on pause and leaves the it on, Oscar immediately goes and sits like a little statue in front of the TV and waits for those letters to start streaming. He knows it’s coming and he really flips out. He’s barking and jumping trying to reach the TV (on the wall). Vince will usually remember that he left the TV on pause by the time he’s halfway up the stairs and he’ll yell down for me to turn it off. Sometimes I can get it off before the screen saver comes on and sometimes I can’t. I was telling Addie and when she was here the other day, I showed her and she thought it was so funny. We really don’t do it on purpose because he reacts in such a way that it really bothers him . . it is like he’s playing a game, he seriously wants it off.
Today I had Pandora on the TV and an album cover was on the screen. Not moving but the name of the album was in red letters and Oscar was barking so loud and seemed so angry that Vince came in from the back yard to see what was wrong. As soon as I found the remote and got it turned off, he stopped.
We got over that and an hour or so later, I turned it back on Pandora and an ad came on and across the TV, in white letters, it said “ADVERTISEMENT”. Oscar again flipped out.
Why would a dog hate the alphabet and get so worked up over. Now, he’s sitting on my lap. The TV is off but he will not take his eyes off it. He is sure something is going to pop up on there any time and he needs to get it before it gets him.
I think that is so weird!

…Chris is wearing a boot on one foot and sometimes using crutches due to a sprain. Bugsy absolutely hates the boot and crutches. He jumps around and barks like a devil dog. He puts his whole body into the protest. If Donnie hugs me, Bugsy goes nuts trying to separate us. He does it to Vanessa and Chris also if they try to hug me. Where did the sweet dog we adopted go?

Poor Chris. I hope his foot is better soon. I can understand Bugsy’s dislike of anything new and the devil dog routine seems to come very easy to dachshunds. I’m giggling reading this. I wondered how long you would have a sweet dog. There are some . . I’ve seen them. I’ve never had one. When we got Oscar, the lady told us that she had one that was really sweet and always looking for a lap. It was a black longhair and I did not want a long haired dog. At least three times a day, Vince looks at Oscar and says “I bet that little black long haired dog isn’t acting like this!” Doesn’t phase Oscar. I think there’s a reason we chose Oscar – I seriously wonder if he wouldn’t have been surrendered by now if he had gone to someone else. Not saying we’re saints but we do love him, though at some point every day, I wonder if we bit off more than we can chew with him.

Reading your blog tonight the first thought that came to mind was that Oscar has got to be the smartest dog I’ve heard of !! Deb E

He does seem smart but not the smartest. The most hard headed and determined . . maybe!
