There are some weird Peeps hanging out at our house.
Those on the top row have no eyes. The ones on the bottom row have weird, droopy, runny eyes.
Oh, well, they’re here to be consumed . . not to win a beauty contest. I suppose it’s just the decorations that are wonky and everything else with them is ok.
I think Addie would be grossed out to get Peeps with no eyes. Rita will be proud that she and the Peeps have something in common. They’re now in the freeze dryer. Maybe I should eat these before Addie sees them. 🙂

I saw Peeps at Fresh Market today, but I didn’t see any like these! LOL

Something about Peeps and “fresh market” don’t seem to go together. 🙂

I’m trying to imagine freeze-dried Peeps. Do they shrink? My friend opens her package of Peeps several days before she plans to eat them because she likes them dried out. So is that why you dehydrate them or down the road do you rehydrate them so you have fresh Peeps? I have had dried out marshmallows and tried to use them in Rice Krispie treats but the treats start out ok but get hard very quickly.

Did not shrink. They actually got just a tad bigger. They taste like something I’ve had before but I can’t figure it out. Almost like a Necco or a Smarty – kinda that texture . . maybe more Smarty than Necco.
I won’t rehydrate them. I really don’t like Peeps because I’m not a fan of marshmallows. Vince likes them left out for a while so they are kinda dry but I don’t even like that. Freeze dried, they kinda melt in your mouth if you leave it in there about 30 seconds.
These aren’t like dried out where they get harder and chewy and kinda don’t want to go away. These stay crunchy and tend to be more like something that melts in your mouth. I know I’m not describing it very good. I’ve only tried a little piece that broke off because I told Addie I would wait for her to try them together.

Thanks for the reply. Melt like Cotton candy?? I’d be interested to see what happens when they are rehydrate! That said, since I’m not a Smarty or Necco fan (peanut butter, dark chocolate, nutty, YES! Neccos seem kinda chalky, Smarties a little tart. Neutral on Peeps to eat but the bunny Peeps are pretty cute), I’d probably wait until after the holidays and get them 1/2 off. I do buy a box of fresh ones for my friend when I see them.
