Late last week I made loaf bread – the Oatmeal Toasting Bread that makes three loaves. I took one to a friend and got this note back from her.
Yesterday morning I looked at our menu for the week and baked the rolls and buns we’ll need for the week. I ground 4-1/2 cups of hard white wheat to make this bread.
There are 10 small rolls. Vince will usually eat three and I’ll eat two with dinner and we needed them for two meals so that works out. We’re going to have ham sandwiches on Thursday. I made six buns – about the size of a hamburger bun. Since we have the ham, I’ll probably make ham and egg sandwiches one morning for breakfast. We need garlic bread Tuesday so I’ll probably use at least one bun to butter, toast and then add garlic spread and stick under the broiler.
I have that we need bread with the pot pies on Saturday but with them having pie crust, we may not need bread but I’ll also have biscuits leftover from Saturday morning’s breakfast so we’ll be fine. Friday or Saturday, I’ll need to make loaf bread again but for now, the bread making is done for most of the week.

I do not thank any thing tastes better that a slice of freshly made bread with some butter on it.
