Chad, Nicole and Addie were in Louisiana last week for Spring Break. I looked at their photos posted online and I had to laugh! I think Nicole was an easy child to raise . . Chad not so much.
The reason I said “I think” she was an easy child . . Addie’s school pictures and her cheerleader pictures last year . . she had a smirk, not a smile. I told her “Some day, your children are going to see those pictures and they’re going to think it’s ok to make that face instead of smiling and looking happy and just when you get aggravated with them, you’re going to remember you did the same thing!”
A month or so ago, Nicole sent me this picture that her dad had sent her.
Nicole on the left; Addie on the right. Yep, just what I said.
Here are a few pictures from their Louisiana trip.
They were on the trolley car and I’m sure they wanted it to be fun for Addie but she wasn’t happy because she had to get up so early so she’s pretending to be sleeping, standing on the trolley. That’s my uncle in front of her and Nicole in front of him. Chad was behind her . . probably had already given up on trying to get her to participate.
Look at that! Addie is just a couple of inches shorter than her mom. When did that happen??
That’s my uncle. He’ll be 91 in just a few weeks. He’s still traveling, still doing his own yard work. There he is in the WW II museum in New Orleans, keeping up with Chad, Nicole and Addie. I’m so proud of him and it makes me happy that my family has good genes and, for the most part, keep living a good life as long as they possibly can.

It’s great to have good genes in the family. My kids should have it made from both sides of the family! Hubby’s grandmother died at 96, his dad at 88, although his mom died of cancer in her 70’s. My grandmother (mom’s side) died at 98-1/2, my dad died just over a year ago at 99-1/2, and mom just reached 90 last Sunday! I did have a brother that died at 58 from cancer, but all told we have pretty good longevity in our families. Your uncle looks amazing for his age!! And you’re right about Addie…when did all that height happen??? 🙂

She’s grown so fast the past three years. Long, long legs!

Your Addie is looking so grown up! And tall. I have 2 grandchildren who are both 11 years old and nearly as tall as me, although I’m only 5′ 2″, so . . .

Addie definitely has her Mom’s smirk down pat! 😉 They are both cute! If you could just get Addie to stop growing up so fast!

Seems like it was “just the other day”, Addie was a cute baby……now she’s a cute young lady. They do seem to grow up too fast.

Finally, I’m able to read the blog again! Poor put-upon Addie. Your uncle is amazing, indeed. Bodes well for you.

He really is amazing. I think you would love him. He’s so interesting to talk to. Has a Ph.D. in education and has taught in so many interesting settings. He has smart friends and almost all those old guys are still sharp and they have fun with their discussions.

I find that people who stay active mentally last longer than those who veg out in front of TV or simple disengage. Not always, but as a general rule. I would love the chance to chat with him, as I know we’d have lots to talk about. I’m trying to keep my brain sharp, and doing pretty well with it.

I’ve been to the WWII museum in New Orleans, and it’s pretty awesome.

Is that castle-look building the museum? Wow, impressive! Looks like it would rival some of the things we’ve seen in Europe! Addie is going to be tall…and wow does she ever look like her mother!

I’m not looking at the pictures but I think you’re asking about St. Louis Cathedral.
