I love the Rolaframes for stitching since stitching in hand causes my left hand to hurt. I have more frames than I should because if I had 50 frames (I do not), I’d have 50 things started and on those frames, and I would need 5 more frames. I want to finish everything on a frame so I just need to do it and free up some frames.
In HIS Image had been on the longer rollers at the top. When I’m sitting in my chair, that’s just too long. Normally, I will put the stitch width and length numbers in the cross stitch calculator, decide how much border I want to leave and how much space I need for framing, and cut the linen to that length. On this piece, there were only about 4″ left over from the piece of linen I had, and I didn’t have a shorter frame that would fit this piece so I used a 33″ frame. I struggled with the length of that frame while stitching the border so once the border were stone, I removed it from the frame and trimmed it.
There’s what it looks life off the frame. The beginning of the big red house is on the bottom right. See how different the linen colors look in different light?
I had a smaller frame that I could put the dachshund piece in and In HIS Image would fit in that frame so I switched everything around got In HIS Image framed into a more manageable frame for stitching in the recliner. Instead of cutting down the piece for the dachshund, I put the whole fat quarter in the frame and my thinking is that there will be other small pieces I can stitch on that piece of fabric without having a fat quarter of linen with a corner cut out of it. We’ll see . . if the dachshund piece gets finished and sits in the frame for a long time, then that idea wasn’t a good idea but if there are several things I can stitch on that piece of linen and not have to square up the fabric and re-load it into the frame, then it was a good idea.
