Yesterday I was doing colonoscopy prep (so you know what I will be doing today!) and I was hanging out on Youtube and came across Mandy in the Making. Maybe it was because I was starving (not really but it felt that way) but every recipe she made, I wanted to go right upstairs, tell Vince I had changed my mind and the colonoscopy wasn’t happening, and start cooking. Maybe tomorrow, none of these recipes will look so good. But, here are a few that I found that are on my list and I’m hoping I feel like stopping by the grocery store on the way home today for a few ingredients I need to make these.
Most of the videos have links to the recipes in the “box below” so if you don’t want to go through the videos (but I think she’s really cute and fun), click on the links. Many of them used canned soup and I know that’s not healthy but I’m figuring since I’m being so good to have my colonoscopy every five years . . it’s ok if I eat a few unhealthy recipes. Tomorrow I may feel differently. 🙂
The first video of hers that I found was where she was making dishes that use boxed stuffing mix. I love homemade cornbread dressing but I also loved the boxed mixes. After Thanksgiving Aldi had the boxed dressing marked way down and we stocked up. Here’s a video with four recipes, all of which I cannot wait to try. Again . . things may look different tomorrow. 🙂
I must have watched a dozen of her videos and wanted to make every single dish she was making.
If you’re looking for new, easy, not necessarily low fat or healthy recipes, check out her videos.

Colonoscopy prep is the worst! You can’t eat, but it’s not like you’re sick when you don’t want to eat. I hope it all goes well. I have a couple more years until I’m due for my next one…

I wasn’t, but maybe she will have something good I can eat, so I’m checking it out. I love Progresso soups, and Hearty Tomato is my favorite. I can eat it about once a month, but I want it a lot more often. I’m making a lot of my own soups from scratch now – all with the same three vegetables. LOL How lucky I can have those three, and a couple more that don’t really go in soup, unless you make a cream of them yourself. Thanks for the links. Hope it went well for you.

I would love some colonoscopy prep ideas, I am having one next week. My surgeon has suggested to have ginger beer with the prep, but would like some suggestions on liquids to have during the day

No help from me. I just drank water. I could have had sports drinks that were clear, just not red or purple. I could have had clear chicken broth. I could have had apple juice. I did mix up a can of frozen apple juice but never drank it. My doctor gave me a list of things I could have. No milk or dairy products. Nothing red or purple. Only clear liquids. That’s all I remember and I’ve already thrown it out. Good luck with the prep and the test.

Thanks Judy. My doctor wants me to take a tablespoon of Epsom Salts each morning 3 days, 2days and 1 day before the procedure, as well as the Prep mixture every 3 hours the day before from 3 p.m. onwards. ……. and of course tons of clear fluids which I don’t normally have. I can see myself having some problems trying to drink everything. It all happens next Friday Aus time

It isn’t so bad . . once it’s over but getting it down is awful. Mine started at 3 p.m. the day before. The Epsom Salts .. that’s something I’ve never heard of. Yuck! But, I’m sure it’s just another way of getting things moving.
Good luck with it and I’m glad you’re getting it done. That’s an easy test to put off!

We use bone broth, Gatorade (that doesn’t have red, orange, or purple), root beer and banana popsicles…

We can have Ginger Ale or 7-Up but none of the dark colas. We can also do the frozen fruit bars so long as there are no chunks of fruit in them. Every time I’ve done the prep, I’m freezing the entire time. I tell myself it’s because I’m drinking cold and getting rid of all my warmth so I didn’t try to drink cold beverages or frozen bars. I did try a bit of chicken broth but I was already feeling a bit sick at that point. I’m going to get away from this February/March timeline and add just a couple of months and schedule it for April or May next time.
