I spend more time downstairs during the day and then in the evening Vince comes down and the minute Vince walks into the room, Oscar is on his lap and he stays there! I’ve mentioned before that while Speck didn’t necessarily dislike Vince but he would never have sat on Vince’s lap if I was in the room.
Last night I got this picture of Oscar on Vince’s lap.
Oscar was looking at me like “Do NOT disturb me!” That’s where he will stay and eventually, Oscar will fall asleep with his head right under Vince’s chin. Vince never had puppies growing up and I don’t think he’s understood my love of having a dog but he’s loving that Oscar loves him.
As hard as it’s been having such a wild puppy, he’s such a perfect little dog for us. I love his expressions. I love his determination. I love how much he loves to snuggle once he’s tired. Overall, we’re both madly in love with the little guy.

Judy, I do not see Oscar’s expression as “Do Not Disturb” me,. I see his expressions as “He loves me more.” JMHO

I’m the one who usually gets him from Vince to take him outside and he gives me that look. He’s never growled at me but after having had two dachshunds that were very snippy, any look Oscar gives me makes me a bit nervous.

Just as important, Vince loves Oscar, and it shows.

I love the look on Oscar’s face! To me, he is saying “Neiner neiner – he’s ALL MINE!”

Careful Oscar does not pick up on that hesitation. Dachshunds need a pack leader or they will quickly become one. Wish I could meet the little guy.

I learned that the hard way. My first dachshund was definitely the pack leader. What he said was the law and if we didn’t obey it, we got bit! I think that’s why Oscar doesn’t growl at me. At the first indication of growling or aggression, I tap his nose and say NO!!
He’s so funny. I wish you could meet him too. He’s probably a bit weird but he’s just so funny. You can see from his expression how excited he gets when I say “Good Boy!!” He wants to be a good boy . . but you know it’s hard for a dachshund. 🙂
