I started Ellen Carr 1843 on June 1, 2022.
As you can see, this chart is from Needlework Press and I got it through one of the Girls Clubs at Country Sampler. I think the one I’m in is called “Threads of History” and it’s reproduction samplers (I think). I should know more about what I’m talking about but . . if you’ve been with me for a while, you know that’s not going to happen. I think we get four or five kits per year.
Tuesday night I finished stitching this one and I love it. I made a good many changes, as you can see.
The little dog is supposed to represent Oscar. I stitched the dragonfly and butterfly after they had been playing with him outside. I changed the verse to something that means more to me so . . I really kinda didn’t stitch a reproduction sampler but stitching it in a way that makes me smile.
This chart reminded me why I stitch borders first but I couldn’t because I wasn’t quite sure where I was going with this one. Those blue and pink flowers and leaves in the border . . I thought I would never finish those. I’ve been working on those for several weeks. It would have been so nice if that border had been done and when I finished the verse, I was finished.
But, it’s finished and that’s what matters.
By the way, this was finish #3 for 2023.

I love this with all the changes you made to make it meaningful to you. Maybe you’re on your way to becoming a cross stitch designer? You were a wonderful quilt designer! ??

Not happening. My brain thought in terms of squares and half square triangles. Tiny little “x-stitches” make me a bit frustrated most of the time.

That’s beautiful!! And the changes are so special.

I LOVE your changes! The urn and flowers in the original are overpowering the house. What you did allows the scene to take center stage. And the verse you used is really sweet. Great finish!!
