It was after 5 when the dirt guys left. They got a lot done and the back yard already looks better.
In the almost two years since Vince has been here, we’ve had moving vans across the back yard twice, we’ve had the big sewer truck that pumped the septic tank, we’ve had concrete trucks when we were building the porch and all the equipment and supply trucks with Vince’s shop. There were so many ruts in the yard so some of this dirt kinda filled in all those. You probably can’t see it but in that far corner, he put enough dirt for me to have a flower bed back there.
When I saw this, I was kinda shocked because Oscar likes to go do his business either near where I want to put that flower bed or, go almost to the fence straight ahead and turn left, then go to that fence. He likes that area. It’s supposed to rain for the next four or five days and there is no way to get over there without going through fresh dirt. I could wear Boots but Oscar . . not so much. I was trying to figure out if there was a way we could get over there, or if Vince could put down a sheet of plywood or something for us to walk across, then I remembered . .
There was no dirt work on this side of the house. This isn’t Oscar’s favorite place to go but he goes out on a leash so he goes where I want him to go (with a little encouragement/treats) so until grass grows in the new dirt, we’ll be using this side of the yard.
I’m not sure what Vince was thinking having him spread this dirt here without having gravel or rocks to put on top of it. This is the gate the guys bringing the greenhouse will be using . . but that’s not something I’m sticking my nose in . . the guys will figure that out.
The holes look funny. That’s where we had three trees that the bag worms killed last summer. The dirt guy got the stumps out but didn’t fill the holes. I’m sure there was a reason for that too. This area is just at the edge of the patio (patio is on the left) and there’s a big magnolia tree on the right. I could plant some pretty shade loving flowers/herbs there.
Here’s what started it all. This is what started all the dirt work – the foundation for the greenhouse. Now . . let the rains begin and hopefully by the time everything dries out, the greenhouse will be ready to be delivered.
