Sheri from Colorado Cross Stitcher does Winter Cross Stitch Camp during February. She designs a cute little “badge” that you can see here. On that link, below the description of the badge are the details about the challenge. The challege for 2023 is to “stitch a piece that goes with a collection you have (or start a new collection)”. It all has to be started and finished in the month of February and there are some requirements about posting a photo on Instagram and tagging Sheri so read the blurb on the badge listing before starting please.
I had planned to do it then, with two SALs starting on February 1, I was questioning my sanity. Then, I realized, there is no sanity so . . why not?
I wanted to stitch something that I want to stitch and not just something quick and easy to say it’s done. There were several charts that came to mind, a couple of them I got out and started pulling floss, then decided I didn’t want to do that one. I’d tell myself … if you’re having this much trouble deciding, then just don’t do it . . so I had decided I wasn’t going to do it.
My friend, Pat, who had no idea I was trying to decide about doing Winter Camp, sent me a link to Mini Long Dogs. Pat knows I have a bunch of dachshund charts and I want to make a dachshund wall . . maybe going up the stairs. It’s 94 x 94 stitches.

On 36 count, it will be 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″. On 40 count, it will be 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″. I have 36 count so I might as well use it but I have a piece of 40 count sitting right next to my chair and the “long dog” is asleep on my lap so maybe I’ll just use the 40 count and not disturb him. Am I just looking for a debate with myself?? Do I get up and get a piece of 36 count or do I use the 40 count? Or, do I sit here and watch flosstubes til Oscar wakes up on his own? It’s so hard to wake a sleeping baby! 🙂
Speaking of long dogs . . see the dark skein on the right? I picked out the floss and on my way to the living room, I dropped that skein and he grabbed it. He knows when he grabs floss, I’m going to chase him and there’s not much he loves better than playing chase. The poor rabbits in the back yard. They’re Oscar’s favorite target for a good game of chase.
