Yesterday I saw the urologist. I had to have some kind of scan first and when I went in to see him, he said “Congratulations! We don’t see any stones!” After lithotripsy, it has taken 8 to 9 years for me to need it again so I’m hopeful if I drink lemon juice or apple cider vinegar every day, maybe I’ll get through this life without ever having them again.
This may not be exactly what the doctor had in mind when he told me to add lemon juice to water and drink it every day but I make some fizzy water with the Soda Stream, add a bit of simple syrup and get a fizzy lemonade. I do the same with apple cider vinegar and honestly, I’m kinda loving both of those. A couple of days ago, I finished off a bottle of ACV and was too lazy to go downstairs and get more but I had a jar of plum vinegar I had made during the summer. I used it instead of the ACV with the fizzy water and a bit of simple syrup. I may be liking that better than Dr. Pepper! I think we have 10 or 11 quarts of fruit vinegars that I made during the summer. I told Vince . . taste this! He thought it was way too tart and didn’t like it at all. Just thinking about it makes me want more. 🙂
Another thing . . I am quite sure there are people who will disagree (though it’s doubtful any of them read my blog) but that’s ok. Everyone has different opinions and different experiences but I love Mercy Hospital here. We’ve lived places where we have seriously disliked the medical system but this hospital and the people are truly amazing. Vince and I were talking about it and we both agree that we couldn’t be living anywhere that we would be happier with the hospital/medical system. The doctors, for the most part, are super nice and forget bringing a book to an appointment. There is never a wait. Now that I’ve said that watch me have to spend all day waiting but Vince and I have both been there several times now for appointments and if the appointment is at 1:45, you will be seeing the doctor at 1:45. All the support staff has been nice and happy and helpful.
When you walk into the hospital, there’s a gift shop on the left, and a coffee shop on the right. Vince said it feels more like walking through a mall than a hospital. There is one side for medical offices and I think there are 5 or 6 floors. The second floor is where the lab is located and the x-rays and scans are done. The other side is the ER and hospital so that side may be totally different.
Yesterday I had the scan done, walked straight to the elevator, went to the correct floor, walked to the receptionist, told her my name and she said “I just got your scan and the doctor will have it when you see him.”
Maybe in the last 8 years since I had my last kidney stone experience everything has changed in all hospitals but it feels good to have complete confidence in the hospital and the doctors here.

This is fantastic! Happy to hear the stones are gone. And it’s nice to hear a positive story about a medical facility. Hope it continues-

That’s wonderful news! I love my doctors I have here too and the hospital system they’re associated with. It’s such a good feeling to have ones you trust!

That’s wonderful. When we moved 8 years ago, I was really concerned about leaving the medical people we had and moving/starting with new doctors especially being “senior” citizens. So far, we’ve both been SUPER pleased with the doctors and hospitals. Since moving, I’ve been diagnosed and treated for bladder cancer, endometrial cancer and added heart “issues” after cancer diagnoses 5+ years ago. All the specialty doctors have been GREAT, as well as their staff and the hospitals. So glad we didn’t have the nightmares I was expecting.
So GLAD you’re doing great!!

Glad the kidney stones are gone. I had a bone density test @ 9:30 am and my dr. was calling me with results @ noon. We are happy with the medical staff in N. Alabama, sometimes the office staff isn’t up to par, but it hasn’t been anything major.

Great news! Are you sure you can switch out vinegars, I take ACV to help with blood sugar levels, they also make it in pill form too, by the vitamins.

Pretty sure. The doctor told me to drink lemon juice or ACV so I’m thinking it’s just the acidity you’re wanting to add. I’ve checked the acidity of the vinegars I’ve made and they’re really close to commercial ACV. I wouldn’t use the homemade for canning but for upping the acidity level in the urine, I think it’s fine. I have no idea about blood sugar – you would need to talk to your doctor or do your own research about that.
