I had placed an order with Walmart a few days ago. It was something that wasn’t in our store and was going to be shipped. With WM+, the shipping is free so I didn’t mind. It was several of the same item and it came to about 15 pounds. Last night, just before I started to go to bed, a little before midnight, I checked my email and it said my Walmart order had been delivered. I thought . . that’s weird because the last thing Vince does before he goes to bed is to make sure there are no packages at the front door. Before I went to bed, I looked. No, nothing. I came back downstairs and checked the email again. Package was delivered at 11:37 p.m. Wait . . Fed Ex usually delivers Walmart’s packages that are shipped and I seriously doubted they had been here at 11:37 p.m. I checked the security cameras and it didn’t show anything going on at all after dark.
I went to the WM app because there’s usually a picture of where they left the package.
Well, that doesn’t tell me much! I hesitated to open the garage door because what if someone hacked into my Walmart account and made it look like that package had been delivered, I go out there and they grab me?? I wasn’t about to wake Vince and tell him I was going out there but it was raining and I didn’t want to leave that package out there all night. A little rain wasn’t going to hurt it but a lot of rain might.
So I opened the garage door, looked around and didn’t see anything. Vince’s old pickup sits outside on the side of the driveway. I happened to look over there and that package was soaking wet, sitting on top of the hood of his pickup.
I am not complaining! If it had not been there or had been damaged, Walmart would have made it good but seriously . . they’re delivering groceries at almost midnight and leaving them on the hood of a pickup, in the rain, and sending that kind of picture??
No, I’m not going to call and tell them I think this was a bad idea. My feeling is that there’s no one I could possibly talk to who even cares so why waste my time and their time. I just hope those delivery folks stay safe. I would not want to be out leaving things on people’s vehicles at that time of night.

Crazy! I do wonder about delivery people sometimes…

Perhaps the driver figured that you might have cameras, automatic lights, and an alert system and by going up to the front door, you were going to be alerted late at night? Lots of people have those ring systems. I know it’s a stretch, but perhaps that was their thinking??
I really like getting the notices from USPS, Amazon, UPS and Fed Ex about the package delivery. Most of the time, I can hear the trucks come up the street so the tire & brake noises alert me.

I would have thought the driver would have wanted someone to come out and get it rather than leave it in the rain all night since it was groceries plus, a critter could easily have gotten into it. Our security cameras send an alert to the phone when any of them pick up either “movement” (which can be an animal, a bird, a leaf though we can adjust the sensitivity) or if a human is spotted. I usually keep it on human except for the back deck where I often see cats, raccoons, etc.

I forgot to ask – are you still using that Misfits Market service? They apparently coming to my neck of the woods.
There are some delivery points for the Azure service, so I might try them in the near future.

No. I like Azure better. The Misfits boxes for me started getting petty ragged.

Wow, that’s just odd all the way around. I’m sure you had Oscar to protect you. =)

He’s such a chicken, I’d hate to count on him for much protection.
